Forks: A Weight Gain Visual Novel (Cancelled, all assets posted for everyone)

Solution to the phone dialog is simple. You use:

  ),
  top=32,
  left=32
)

But Alphamask does that weird artefacts due to some rounding errors and how it is implemented.
Just create rigth_50b397.png where you replace that gray color with the desired color (#50b397) and use just

Frame('gui/phone/msgbubble/right_50b397.png', top=32, left=32)

And corresponding bug report: https://github.com/renpy/renpy/issues/1964 - indicates that AlfaMask should be fixed in version 7.4

I enjoyed this update a lot. The routes all worked without issues for me (win).

I don’t like Hannah though, seems to me that unknown to her, she’s driving Rea to act so annoyingly.

There are a few small things I noticed:

  • Extras > Characters section crashes a lot when playing around with the sliders and switching characters. Should be easily reproducable. If not, give me a PM and I send the stacktrace.
  • The arrows worked better than the new sliders.
  • There is conversation with lbs values even if you set the metric system. It’s a bit confusing. The y-axis in progress bar also is in lbs, but I think that has always been a bug.
  • Alex’s weight swing there is a bit unrealistic I think. From 14.April to 18.April minus 5.6 lbs and back from 18.April to 21.April plus 7.6 lbs.
  • Her progress to stage 4 right after is also abruptly. I think you need to add a bigger time gap to introduce it and weight. Comparatively to Rea at stage 3 and 202 lbs (which had a reasonable jump / timegap) she is also “only” 173 lbs. Or reduce Rea’s weight to one that fits her stage 3.

I’m slightly confused. The game kicked me to the title screen after meeting with Grace at the cafe. Is this the end of the update? It seems like there’s only one additional scene added to the Grace route compared to the demo released last year? I guess I was expecting to see some of the new sizes and outfits that have been teased for years.

Want to say I can tell Rea really likes retro games. I love how the gamecube is connected to a professional JVC monitor for that pristine quality. CRTs are the best for retro systems like the gamecube and the gameboy player connected to it. I assume she prefers shadow maks tubes over the Aperture Grille in trinitrons.

There is a ton of new content on the hannah arc, a decent sum on the rea arc, and almost none on the grace arc. tron explained this. If you wanted to see new content you weren’t supposed to pick grace.

I’m on Windows, during the “Tightrope” section after where the first demo ended, the game just kinda… ends… while rea, alex, and morgan are talking about alex getting fatter while in kino cafe. Idk what to do, tried reinstalling, can’t get the game to run past there. FYI I know this is an error of some sort because I never got to the 4th size.

Did you focus on grace instead of hannah/rea?

Oh, I see… Grace has always been my favorite girl, so I guess I’ll check back in when the full build is released.

Just got around to playing the new demo I just restarted the whole game because I really didn’t play though Hannah’s route before so I wanted to start fresh. There is still the issue with the two sides of both skinny and fat Alex when they are at Alex’s place and a few issues with the character sliders in the main menu but over all I enjoyed Hannah’s route and the progression of growth (pun intended) of Alex’s character. Super exciting for any future updates.

From the patreon update it looks like after toro’s new art is added they are switching back to work on aria which after its demo is released its engine is being switched from Ren’py to Unity.

It’s been a few months since I last played the demo, so I gave it another shot today and I was pleasantly surprised to see so many substantial updates implemented since my last playthrough. Really great work on the UI changes and the speech bubbles. I was a fan of the original sprite work before the overhaul, but the new ones are pretty good too! Rare to see a VN project with this much polish and coherence in the community. Keep up the fantastic work, Tron & team!

Happy 3am, everyone :partying_face:! Just finished a Patreon update, and wanted to drop in before I drop out to dreamland for a few blessed hours. I’m fighting the urge to respond to everyone now (for my own good :confounded:) and should instead be able to later this weekend!

New Mina: Anyone remember Mina? Her portrait was the final piece of Forks art Toro did (January 2021) prior to this current workload. He’s decided to redo her portrait as his skills have increased since he last worked on Forks, take a look:


A nice glow-up that still fits the Forks art style! If he were redoing Forks from scratch today (thankfully he’s not :fearful:), this is about what it would look like! As for Mina’s role in the story, she’ll show up later~.

I was always curious as to why swap from Ren’py to Unity, it just sounds like an odd move, especially with how much effort it would require.

Playing the Aria demo, I see why…
I have…never seen Ren’py run so bad before, what in the world did y’all did to the poor engine? Even just giving it the pass of it being a VN with no timing-based gameplay to it, the performance can get so bad it is actually unreadable! Text skips, boxes don’t show up in a way, and its tough to get the rollback going! I’m honestly impressed by the disaster! I’m surprised it didn’t crash!

I won’t really say much about the actual game, since its obvious everything about this will or has been changed since this original demo, I’ll just say that it is not the best introduction to the world and setup. Very “Sink or Swim”, so to speak. Also a little disappointed about everyone or so is already fat (except the cowgirl of all things?), but who knows how that will shape up when the game is…

While it’s nice to see sprites for new characters i can’t help but make the joke/ remark of ‘I thought you said you were done updating the sprites now?.. did Aria rekindle it or something?’ as does seem to be the start of a running joke with you @Tron.

Anyway once again good to see an update on forks, the updated sprite for Alexs Mom looks really nice aswell as give off that resemblance to Alex in a way and Emily certainly looks like someone people would consider a Milf due to her physical appearance.

I do hope will get more Rea and Grace updates soon we get close to next big update but in the meantime… yes i think checking out how Aria is doing sounds like a slendid idea!

Already like the new Demo of Forks and am excited for future updates. I got 2 questions

1st: If you decide to publish Forks on Steam. It can happen that for some (me included) the game wont be available due to stupid censorship things. Do you have a plan for that like maybe asking the player to skip certain drawings/scenes or maybe something else ? Because I would really like to buy Forks when its done !

2nd: Is Aria also a Weight Gain Oriented Visual Novel ? I didnt read much about it here on the forum and I dont know where to look here to find a description of it

Aria is a transformation based visual novel being developed by team spoon. You can check team spoon’s patreon for more info about it. It will have weight elements but it is not the focus. A small quote from tron and team included for those not looking to check it out.

I think the plan is a release on Itchio because most people probably don’t want a fetish game on their steam libraries.

Also yea sadly weight gain isn’t the focus of Aria but I hope most of the transformations have expansions in some way or else I won’t really be interested. I played the Aria demo it seems neat, but its really short for after a year of development. Is there going to be more content in the unity demo?
