I also really think at this point since you have a demo of the game and it will feature weight/fat content in some form. You should probably make a thread for Aria instead of posting Aria content in your forks thread in my opinion.

While it’s welcome to see for people not following or subscribing to your patreon, it is however off topic and potentially clogs up and alerts people about content they may not be interested in. And by now Aria is well deserving of its own topic unless I’ve misunderstood how your TF weight content is going to work.

@ebik Thanks! I didn’t know what the heck had been causing that issue, and of course it’s fixed in a newer version :laughing:. I’ll see what I can do fix this.

@Testin10 I’m glad you enjoyed the update and that everything worked! Hannah is indeed partly to blame for Rea’s actions, unbeknownst to her. They just can’t help but make life harder for each other. I’ll fix those weight issues too, and see if I can make Alex’s jump more reasonable. Thanks for the tips :grin:!

@LisaPage Oh no, has it really been years? How time flies, I’m sorry for making you wait so long :sweat:. Thankfully Grace has always been easier to write, so hopefully her update won’t take as long!

@nervki The very first Forks demo had a (now cut) scene of Rea and Alex playing on a Japanese style arcade cabinet, with Rea switching out boards between games. But yes, she’s an American who would know what SCART is.

@secretfajj Thankfully there’s nothing wrong, that’s just where Rea’s new content (abruptly) ends. Whenever I get to her update (not sure who’ll be next) she’ll have plenty more!

@smugdotexe Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it! I had to squeeze in bits of writing time over the past few months to do this, so I’m happy it’s been worth the trouble :blush:

@hisano-x Thanks! It’s all because of our programmer that we were able to get the UI updates working as well as they do, I definitely couldn’t make this so polished by myself :sweat_smile:. I’ve always strived to make the best game I could for the community, something I’d personally enjoy playing so that hopefully somebody else will too!

@PlusParsnips Last one for this message! The Aria demo’s a right mess, isn’t it? We added a lot of custom code (take a look around and you’ll see even basic things like portrait calls are different), and while it let us do some neat stuff, the performance hits were, as you said, disastrous :sweat:

Narratively, plenty will be changed for the better (Aria will be her own character, rather than blank slate stand-in for players). It won’t be a total overhaul (although there will be a proper introduction that gives you more context for the world), but it should be less sink or swim. While I did that to get players going ASAP, I stepped a little too hard on the gas. I’ll detail more in the Patreon update about it.

Forks has been through two revisions so far (the first one was made with TyranoBuilder!), but hopefully the second time’s the charm with Aria. I’m a bit glad the performance tanked so hard, it gave me time to reevaluate what worked and didn’t, and give the game a much better foundation.

@maldy Funny enough, Aria herself will be totally redone, since she’s no longer a student at Sonda Nyl :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

With Mina though, we’d never actually finished her portrait set (since she isn’t seen in-game until later on), and compounded with the innate difficulty of revisiting his older art, we decided to just redo her. Thankfully, it only took a few days, so not too much time lost. Toro’s said he’s going to go all out on the new CGs, so there may be a bit of a disconnect between the old and new style. Thankfully everyone should be looking their best ever in them, so I don’t think players will mind :+1:

Ooh, and Mina’s not Alex’s mom! I didn’t even stop to think about any possible resemblance, but I see how she could pass for her! Alex’s mom will be showing up, but her portrait’s up next after Emily’s.

And, uhhh… sorry the Aria demo runs worse than Alex does now :sweat_smile:. Hope it was still interesting!

@Markava123JD Thanks, I’m glad you liked the update! As to your questions:

  1. I’m sorry to hear that, but thankfully Forks will also be available on Itch too! One way or another, I don’t want anyone to miss out :relieved:
    It’s strange, I’ve planned out 18+ Forks content, but Toro and I haven’t actually gotten around to drawing any yet! There was nearly an 18+ CG in Hannah’s route, but the timing worked out that releasing the update now was the best decision. Her next update should have it.

  2. There will be weight gain included, but it won’t be the focus. The very first design draft called for a lot more of it, and that’s probably why several of the first characters you meet are larger. We may revisit that for the Unity version.

@ButteredToast25 Yeah, that demo’s a lot shorter than I would’ve liked. The performance issues killed progress on it, though I’ve gotten most of the world building sorted out. While players can’t see it in-game right now, a lot’s been done behind the scenes. There were a ton of challenges last year that kept me from working on Aria and Forks as much as I’d hoped, but this Forks update might help set a better tempo. There will absolutely be more content in the Unity version :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

@Krodmandoon Last one! I don’t want to mix up content either, and plan to make a separate thread for Aria once it gets going (likely after the first Unity demo’s ready and we know the performance isn’t awful). It’d been a long time since I’d uploaded anything playable, but you’re right, and that’ll likely be the last time anything Aria-related gets posted here.

When I got to play Aria, I was disappointed that most routes ended mid-sentence, because in terms of visuals and mechanics (hopefully the item pouch plays into a puzzle or two along with the TF content), as well as an open map that Ren’py usually doesn’t have. I admit even on my current gen gaming laptop that it stutters on transitions briefly, but the demo ran okay on my end. I’m sure that Unity would be much better optimizing for lower-end machines, I just hope that it still keeps the features like several save slots and dialogue rewind/logs to go back on texts.

I noticed on my copy that saves were glitched from the boat until the map, but I suppose that’s as-is given the shift in focus.

As for the promised game, there’s been a gap left by The Pirate’s Fate regarding a TF romp, and having Toro handle the art helps to lure in more mainstream tastes that don’t like full-on furry or male content. If the second demo can at least end on a high note, I really think there may be something special here.

Am i missing something? I downloaded the latest version available on itch, and it seems to be the exact same as the last version. Everyone’s talking about stuff that i’m not seeing anywhere. How do i tell if i actually have the right download or not?

Tron had stated that they were going to drop an unfinished version here. And then update the original post and the other sources when the complete demo was ready to be released with that version. So downloading from anything but their post from 10 days ago won’t get you the newest unfinished version.

I haven’t played Forks since early 2021. Just downloaded your latest ‘teaser’ and had forgotten how much I enjoyed your ‘Alex’ story! Thank you! Really enjoying the latest version and await the update with images when it becomes available. Great job!

I finally found time to play the demo, loved how it fleshed Hannah out and made me enjoy her character. I gotta say I love the updated sprites for Morgan and Alex. They look so good!

I was wondering if the notes section would be used more in the final build? It seems kind of empty except in Rea’s route. Also is there a plan to put the screenshots in an extra file like the CGs? The Alex and Rea one was great.

Looking forward to possible 18+ content but I can’t wait for he girls to start getting their hands on each others bellies!

Last thing, I know its late into the development but did you ever consider showing Grace at her 170ish weight?

No. The game probably won’t be finished for years. There is, however, a new version released last month but it’s a tad hidden

I believe they were referring to the new demo version that came out the one that will have completed artwork and no placeholders, I might be wrong though.

If so @Asty no currently only the demo that is unfinished with placeholders has been released. Tron will be updating the main post when the finished version is out.

first time commenting - made an account just to do so!

unfortunately… it’s to report a seeming bug - which is that, for whatever reason, it claims it can’t find “archive.rpi” and subsequently fails to even start. i’ve seen other people commenting here about new content so it’s obviously working for them, but re-downloaded it thrice over now and in every instance it’s the same - so i’m not sure if i’m just horribly unlucky and got bad downloads three times in a row or if i just missed a step somewhere ^_^;

archive files like zips 7zips and rar’s need to be extracted to their own folder before any of the files inside can be used. Modern operating systems obscure this fact by letting you preview the contents inside, and even open a file inside without extracting all the files. But the .exe is useless to open alone because it immediately looks for other files next to it and this operating system preview won’t have made those files exist.

that’s just it, though; i’m not in “preview” to begin with - far as i knew, that’s a mac feature. i’ve been trying to run on pc, but haven’t seen any other zip files to extract in the first place - my download created a set of folders and executables, none of which came back as being compressed.

honestly kinda worried now, if my download’s supposed to have extra zip files and i’ve not seen any in three separate downloads ^_^;

I usually choose download all as a zip from sites like googledrive and mega.nz then I extract the zip.

There is no zip inside the zip in this game.

It is not a mac feature, no, windows does it as well.

All I can say is that if you download all the files and place them in the right place, (most easily down with a download all as zip then extracting the zip.) The game will work and you won’t get that error. PLUS that specific error makes it fairly clear you’re just missing the archive.rpa (or however it’s spelled) file that contains literally almost the whole game.

i never said “zip inside the zip” though; that was my whole point (and having owned both a mav and a pc, i can only ever remember the mac allowing any kind of preview witjout unzipping the file - current computer included. though that could just be a software thing; idk if brand or type matters there ^_^; )

The thing is that my downloads have thus far always resulted in straight folders - no matter how many times i did it, it automatically resulted in open folders, not compressed ones. i was saying that i never saw any kind of zip, rar or otherwise compressed file anywhere to do an extraction on in the first place, let alone to move files in the right place from, and im here because idk if this is something with my download or some kinda compatability issue or just a straight error of some other kind and… well, dont know where else to ask ^_^;
