Since all assets are posted for everyone, is it alright to use any of the art in different games as long as the art it credited?
The dev posted them publicly and said they were free to use, although the wording used was if someone wanted to continue the project, I can’t see why there would be an issue with proper credit. After all they are public assets now.
Damn I really liked this game, i would like to continue some of it but I dont know if theres something like a bible or a gdd with where the history was going or character sheets
I don’t believe the game was designed in such a way. There was nothing included beyond the images and final release version of the game. No writing or notes. It’s likely Tron never had any documentation of the characters (at least digitally) beyond what was put in game. And plans were general outlines of ideas it seems. If I remember correctly Tron had never written anything like this and effectively knew very little about writing when starting the project. I would guess that probably translated into less digital planned/documented things for the characters and more free flow outlined ideas.
But above is what was said as for the plans for routes that were going to be included in game and maybe that points you in the right direction.
Thx a lot!! With that I can see where it was supposed to be headed at least and make a profile of the characters with what we already have scripted. Don’t know if my interpretation would be correct tho. I’ll do my best, and thanks again!
I know I’m a loser for asking and it may have recently been said in this thread but is there enough here to be worth playing? (Without spoilers)
It’s for sure worth playing in my opinion. The quality and care that went into is obvious. It’s a concept that had a lot of potential. I don’t personally judge something on playtime but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed by what’s there, just probably the fact that there won’t be anything further developed for it ![]()
Play it
Love it
Be sad it’s dead
Great game I wish more content would release.
You’ll be waiting a long time, because the game’s cancelled. :'3
Hey all! A little while ago I used the asset dump to put together an app that lets you view all Forks characters/costumes/expressions together. No more looking at faceless bodies!
Would it be possible to make a downloadable version of this?
Yup! I’ve just uploaded Windows and Mac versions.
dude. you might just be the best person ever
Well put together, awesome!
Do you think it would be possible to ‘complete’ the images as well? Or would that only work with the original artist [whos not long gone]?
As in draw the missing stages for each outfit? I wish I could, but no—I’m more programmer than artist. Seems Toroboro’s also gone quiet for about a year now, so I don’t think they’ll ever return to this project ![]()
I’m glad people can better enjoy the unused weights and outfits, thanks @wiitearz for making that app! Some outfit + weight combos were skipped because they wouldn’t be seen in the story. To my knowledge we didn’t cut any finished outfits, so there’s nothing missing for me to pop in here.
Except for me, I guess, because I’ve been pretty quiet for the last… three years sheesh. I’m still the primary caretaker of my two kids, now 4 and 2, so that + late work shifts take most of my time. We’ve recently gotten them both in school though, so that means for the first time in 4+ years I actually get some time away and a decent night’s rest!
With that time, I’ve been able to finally think about Forks stuff again. I haven’t restarted development, but at least it doesn’t feel impossible anymore. I’ve still always wanted to work in game dev, and when Team Spoon was on all cylinders it really felt like a dream come true. I think I’d like to try again someday. For the moment though, Team Spoon’s just me. I had some intense family issues that made me indirectly ghost everyone, among them we weren’t sure if Kid #2 was going to live, but today she’s thriving. It’s part of why I cancelled Forks in the first place, and when I came back everyone had disappeared from Discord.
Besides, between new (to me, I’ve been living under a rock) games like Fatgeria and Indulgences, I’ve got a high bar to clear if I want to stand out
. If I land on anything, I’ll be sure to let everyone know and inquire about building a new team.
In the meantime, are there any loose ends I can help tie?
Hey Tron, I don’t talk much on this forum, but I wanted to de-lurk to say that Forks still remains one of my favorite projects here and a huge inspiration. I love the characters, art, and flow of the story, and always loved what I felt is a “soft” feedism story focused on just gaining and not stuffing/pregnancy/bdsm/inflation etc. Not to mention mutual gaining stories are very rare on the forums between the main character and love interest. I’m glad to hear you’re back around and if you ever need any python/renpy advice or just to chat more on Discord let me know!
I don’t really have much to say, but it’s good to hear that you and the family are doing okay. I’d also think that if you end up with the itch to work on something new, there’s a lot of people who’d be interested in pitching in, even if it’s slow goings; Forks still has a very solid reputation in the community and most of us aren’t strangers to having real-world obligations that come before anything else.
Hi, thank you so much for the kind words! It means so much to know that, even 3 years on, the short game I was able to make still sparks some joy. Above all else, that’s what I wanted to do ![]()
Earlier today, I reopened Forks for the first time since its cancellation and started taking stock. The sheer amount of transforms and variables and math and stuff I packed into the script file certainly shows it was my first Ren’Py game
. I knew where everything was at the time, but seeing it now feels like I’m returning to my house after a hurricane’s been through. I need to clean up this mess, and if I’m ever going to continue the story, that’d be a good place to start.
@jimbobvii thank you, we were really scared about our daughter’s prospects for a while; I’d be all alone right now if it wasn’t for modern medicine. It wasn’t until recently that I took a step back and realized she was really going to be okay, and finally putting those worries in the past set things in motion to, among other things, let me poke my head in here again.
You guys were always so helpful, and suffice to say I’ll probably need some more if I keep going long enough! Fun fact: Forks was compiled with Ren’Py 7.3.5, as for whatever reason that was the final version that worked with the Python code used to graph Alex’s weight. Turns out that’s a pretty ancient version nowadays!
It’s also just nice to see you again, as well as a lot of familiar faces like @Parnash @leedstwo, @Skinny_Guy, @Aleece, and others I’m probably forgetting because it’s been way too long!
So, uh… Maybe sometime I can take a crack at improving that intro again too ![]()
Edit: Ahhhh@Krodmandoon I meant you too! I’m sorry, I told ya’ I was forgetting people!
