Honey Combat Request Posts

One thing that would add nothing to the strategy of the game… BUT it would be cute as all hell is to be able to chit chat with the units in a HQ scenario, like a break room.
Even if it is something simple as, drag food, click to have dialog etc.

(A full date with each unit would be perfect too but then is too much)

We’ve talked about chatting a bit with the bees in a calmer setting, in the menu even, but it would probably be nothing elaborate like dating them or anything tho.

I’ll leave the dating thing to the Honey Dating team (WHICH HAS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TEAM UNDER COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MANAGEMENT TO US. WE ARE NOT DEVELOPING HONEY DATING. HONEY DATING IS A FAN GAME)

name the Honey that player drops I had no idea the 1,000 honey went to the queen until the last one I could drop was used and I happen to find the queen expanding. and noticed the 1,000 honey was not avalible anymore.
Honey Kingdom? like a reason why your in the combat fighting to expand a upgradable territory

This will not matter with planned changes

fair enough either sentence or just the honey name thing

naming, in terms of actual story we have yet to think hard enough about that,
but we are going to have 1 to 9 be set colors and make symbols for each bee, so the player gets to pick what each honey color does (pollen cost is related to bee and not honeys)

oh cool will there be some sort of Rock paper scisores style comabt to them?
Like Belly is strong to abdomen (the gunner if I got the anatomy part wrong) but weak to the Butt?

probably not, though it is a good mechanic it doesn’t really fit reverse tower defense games, Battle cats has a good system but it requires a BIG game and we are looking to polish our game. It will probably just be here are your units, here is what they can do, you chose which ones you use.

Also I know of several other games that are going to use a system like that, and if too many games use it, people will complain like how people complain about RPG maker games, RPG Maker is a decent and easy game engine, so it makes sense that more games would be made with that. Kinda don’t want to over saturate the market with Rock, Paper, Scissors mechanics.

fair enough some system for stratigy outside spawn a lot would be nice but fair enough

you don’t really have the “spawn a lot” strategy here, because you are limited to X number of units, as of right now some of those units are better than others, but that will be changing drastically in the future, I have already shifted the balance of all the units by changing 1 thing.

after playing through the game several times, I’ve detected that artillery really doesn’t have any hard counters aside from the stomper which is really easily stopped by tanks

the strat for hard mode really consists of spamming tanks until you save up for artilleries and then upgrade your queen to level 3

the problem with that is
-I think Artillery isn’t supposed to shoot penetrating shots that damage all enemies in its reach;
-due to how powerful the first two are, the Guard and Stomper really fade on the background as filler units, especially when you look at how ridiculous is the tank’s health pool
-I’d love if Artillery was the support unit that shoots away at weak and airborne enemies rather than otherwise
-I’d also love if Guard reached a little farther with her fists/claws, or at least was impervious to ranged attacks, as it stands right now she stands so close to the enemy she takes priority over the tanks and dies extraordinarily quickly, making her about as useful as a stomper without her stomp
-speaking of the stomper, maybe it would be interesting to add a priority target to her ai? make it so she specifically targets the artilleries/guards and flies over all other enemy units? I say that could massively spice up the game.
-local multiplayer is a must for sure

don’t take those notes as something that should all be applied at once, those simply were my thoughts on possible changes to the game

stall breakers like pretty powerfull abilities but those all require max honey in the reserve and have a very long cooldown meaning miss use off it will be bad for the user

artillery has been nerfed heavily due to adding a feature, to the point where she might need a damage buff.

everything else will be tweaked and edited with time.

If I might suggest some way to upgrade some other units, such as yourself (the Centurion), the Scout, or perhaps making basic bees more powerful somehow by spending a ton of nectar on making some kind of structure that causes basic bees that go through it to become different somehow and more open to being tampered with using other varieties of nectar and making upgraded forms of the other bee types we have? Maybe the upgraded Scout could, for example, steal the nectar from the bodies of the enemy’s bees and give it to you so you have one of that type in reserve? Maybe the upgraded Centurion could create nectar that damages or debuffs the enemy bees, or allows the Centurion to use new and upgraded froms of nectars, possibly even unlocking new upgrades for the Queen?

I will keep this in mind, though the debuff honey can’t be added, not a bad idea though

Also I like the idea of a third party being involved, such as mercenaries, as was mentioned a while ago. Maybe a group of Honeypot Ants working for nectar that will go and eat one of (or several of in the case of smaller units) the enemy’s army, holding them hostage in their stomach until the enemy either pays the nectar fee to free them or the enemy bee or bees are digested, if vore is allowed to be involved? If it isn’t allowed they could probably just coat the enemy bee or bees in sticky honey and carry them to your side. If it is allowed then it would be cool if the enemy bee or bees being digested would result in an upgrade of sorts similar to how your own bees can be upgraded. Maybe you could also feed the ant a few blobs of honey to achieve a similar goal. Maybe the ant could have multiple levels, at the basic level only being able to eat or capture a single small enemy bee such as the basic bee (no page on that one in the tutorial btw) the Stomper, perhaps that assassin bee people keep asking you to make, and possibly the enemy’s Scout if you’re lucky, and at higher levels being able to eat bigger bees such as the Waxer, Artillery, Guard, and whatever other bees you make that happen to be that big (or two small bees), and later on any even bigger bees you make or 3 small bees (or 1 large and one small), and so on and so forth until maybe the ant can even eat an entire non-upgraded Queen or upgraded forms of larger bees. Maybe that could even be a unique ending, where the mercenary eats the enemy Queen and you don’t see her again, yet you always feel as though you’re being watched.

also wow I was not expecting anybody to respond this fast, much less a dev.

Also also, what’s the exception to rule 2? It seems kind of weird you’d make a specific exception to a rule that specifically concerns the prevention of something you don’t like.

the exception is a option we have on the table in the background, so it is for me to know and you to possibly find out, though at the moment the project is stalled till further notice. I still devolve ideas and stuff no matter what though.
