Idol Maker: Refined Palette

Yeah, I did. It’s basically a setup where if you try to make new choreography or record lyrics the idol just says you already did it, but if you try to release a single the game just says you don’t have one.

can’t say I’ve been able to replicate this, can you run me through what exactly you did step by step?

Wait, I think I found the issue. Did you pick the “Sexy Theme”?

I seem to be having the same issue and I chose the sexy theme

I did, yes. Seems like that’s the issue if someone else ran into the same problem.

Just toa dd to your data because I had this issue too – When I ran into It I also picked the sexy theme.

Version 4 added, main things I did today was the intro cutscene, sexy bug fixes, the interview activity, and trending themes (very simple, adds a bonus to your performance if you release a single with a matching theme of what’s popular that week. Ask about it in the corporate offices to see what’s trending that week.)

I’d really like to hear opinions on the introduction cutscene. Unless something is broken or there’s a typo, I probably won’t get around to changing it for the jam, but I want to know how I did. It’s a bit long, so there’s also an option to skip it too.

dang this is a rough thing to read

I know, but I had to. because even if 2 million requires a lot of effort to get to, 1 million doesn’t really (which would be 200k payout for 1 single stream). Fans are easier to get in general now too, since singles get them a lot faster than streaming, but also requires a lot more energy.

A good strategy is to build a fan base via singles, then stream for quick cash once you get a decent amount of fans. 1k every week will do you very well for all the lessons you need to pay for.

and for early game, the cooking skill is more rewarded when working part time now than it was before. So you still have access to some easy-ish money early.

I see nothing wrong with the intro, in fact I think it’s perfect. Lets you get context and seamlessly choose and name characters at the same time, it introduces the game nicely and also gives a convincing explanation for the sketchy map. I used to think it was be just a placeholder in need of a remake, now I think it should definitely stay as it is, it’s quite funny actually.
Oh and the touch about “your parents must be proud of you”, that cracked me up, it was a stroke of genius lol.
It’s simple and on point, no need for super-fancy ultra convoluted and overly frilly presentations when you can deliver 100% with the efficacy of brevity. Good job!

Just one thing I was wondering, can the idol actually lose weight? (not that I care too much but good to know anyway :p)

Glad to hear you liked it

And yeah, she can lose weight. 2-3 salads + working out while not lazy as hell and she’ll lose weight fairly quickly, though it won’t do much good once you reach the higher weight levels, beyond maintaining where they currently on/maybe losing 1 weight level before the game is over by that point.

How do people feel about dumb, weird hidden easter eggs/mechanics? I’m thinking of adding a few post jam.

Oh I love those! Always fun to have bonuses to discover

Hey there! This is an awesome game, loving it so far, big fan of the gameplay mechanics, just like in your dragon city game!

I have a possible bug report - the first day I was able to (directly after Idol-chan mentioned it), I tried to get a physical at the clinic. After clicking the diamond icon and free-cursoring to the dot at the bottom of the screen, it asks if I want to get a physical. On responding yes, nothing happens. On responding no, the same behavior.
This is right at the start of the day, so I should have enough energy etc to get the appointment - perhaps there’s some flag/condition that’s preventing the appointment from happening?

I’ll try coming back at different parts of the day/on later days/after visiting the offices and see if it fixes it

Don’t bother just yet, the clinic isn’t ready (well, it is now, but not in a publicly available demo). Thanks for reporting though, and I’m glad you like it

It’s main purpose for the jam version is that it’s where you can check her weight. So if anyone was wondering why that wasn’t a feature, it’s in the game now.

As of tonight, all stats finally have a purpose. Gameshows are now in the game, which uses academics.

Dang Failmuseum, you always have a rpgmaker submission that involves utilizing game mechanics in ways I never thought rpgmaker was capable of. Impressive as always, gonna be awesome to see more.
