Hi! I’ve been looking for games focused on inflation.
The main criteria I’m looking for are that they’re not VNs or RPGs (though RPG Maker stuff that just focuses on puzzle stuff is fine, like PrimalEmotion’s Trials of Cowza), that the focus is on inflation other than cum inflation, and that they use no AI. The dream would be something involving floating (I’d even accept VNs or RPGs if they did include those), but I’m not picky outside the “no cum inflation” thing.
To narrow things down, I’ve already played the Amber’s Journey trilogy, the demo for Aria’s Dreamland Dissonance, and BubbleBloat and MaxDigital’s games.
There are some games that are worth checking out (in my opinion):
Swelladia // Currently in development. Has a public version after a period of time (+rep Dev)
Inflation Rooms // Currently in abandoned (“completed”). Has a level editor. Too sad we didn’t get jiggle physics. And the varieties of dangers, levels, etc
Riki’s Inflation Game 2 // Completed. The oldest game of this genre (as far as I can remember). Extra characters can be added (sprites)
Tribal Hunter // Released + сontinues to be supported (patch/fix). Hopefully a female playable character will be added someday (even if it’s a DLC, I’ll buy it.)
KoboldKare // Released + сontinues to be supported (patch/fix). The most underrated game for this community (in my opinion). All the expansions are already done, as are the characters (Steam Workshop). Too sad no one is making maps in this direction (expansions). After all, if you become TOO BIG you can get stuck…There is no inflation (air/helium) in this game. Hopefully someday a developer or players will add this
With Swelladia, I still haven’t gotten too far in it. I might give it another try, though.
Madlad’s stuff has a vibe to it that doesn’t appeal too much to me. I can’t really put a finger on it, though.
Riki’s Inflation Game seems like one I’ll have to try out.
I thought Tribal Hunter was mainly focused on WG? Either way, I’d rather stick to stuff that’s either freeware or on Itch, since I’d rather keep my Steam library relatively clean.
KoboldKare is one that I liked, but as you mentioned, there’s really not much inflation stuff beyond cum inflation.
You should try out the “Amber’s Journey” series. These are platforming games that involve inflation to progress. They are old flash games so might be a little awkward to run, but they are worth a shot. You can download the collection here in the creator’s official site.
Here’s something you might find helpful. Fairly recently, Steam introduced the ability where you can keep certain games private on Steam so nobody can see them in your library or even if you’re playing them.
@Pony, I’ve tried those already, as I mentioned in the original post. Funny thing is, they’re not that hard to run! The SWF files can be converted into a Flash Projector EXE file, which Doom’s already done for the collection. They’re also on Flashpoint. …Honestly, I feel like Flash was really the perfect medium for stuff like this, partly due to how easy it was to distribute.
@Xarian, issue is, I’m on a Steam family library, and I’m overly worried that if someone were to look at the “games that can’t be shared” page, they’d see it. I know it’s probably just paranoia, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.
Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t read you had already played those haha. Outside of Tribal Hunter I haven’t played that many inflation games. You can find a good buch of decent games in itch.io, one that I like is Dough Mutts but you can find way more great recommendations here in this thread. Hope you can find a game you enjoy!
“Games that can’t be shared page?” I think that’s now part of “Family Management” under Library > Excluded Games, and it looks like a private game is hidden there to other users too (i.e. games that can’t be shared due to the publisher opting out of sharing it). I just did a quick test of it on my Steam Library and my mom’s account, and the couple test games in my library that fit the criteria disappeared from her Excluded Games list immediately (on a page refresh).
*RPG Maker is WAY overused for a game engine, and so is Renpy.
*I think madlad224’s games may be abandoned on purpose.
*RIG2 is great, save for too many furry characters. Personally, I never cared for furry inflations.
*Tribal Hunter suffers from the same problems as RIG2: Lack of human characters.
*The same goes for KoboldKare, I think. (Though I may be someone on the outside looking in.)
*I personally hate how ImpossibleSnail locks all the good games behind a paywall.
To be honest, I think RPG Maker and Ren’Py can work for games, as long as they’re used in unique ways. Everyone wants to make an RPG, but then there’s puzzle games in the vein of Undertale or OneShot occasionally. And the problem with Ren’Py isn’t the engine, but the fact that everyone just makes visual novels - there’s the occasional game like what Galactase does, where they made a restaurant simulator and a match-3 game in it.
Also, “all the good games are locked behind a paywall” That’s how it works. You make something of note that you feel is good enough, you make it a paid title. Helps reduce the amount of kids that might play it, too.
