LSE:R Gameplay Tips & Hints

Okay, I got the crystal and flower (both purely by accident), where is the 3rd?

It’s in a shop in Lemarc.

Oh Lemarc, okay good to know, is that the town with the fishing competition and the princess character quest?

Yes it is. That’s Lemarc.

At what weight will the regenerative bracelet stop working?

Not implemented just yet. But probably around Obese. Maybe, it might’ve been implemented. It’s been a long two years.

Okay, also where are you supposed to go after upgrading the bracelet? The party chats are just slightly updated versions of when you were trying to find Wain and Myst.

Upgrading it? If you mean discovering what the bracelet it, that’s the end of the chapter.

Oh, that’s the end of the update?

Yep. Now to wait for the start of Part 2 and the Dommy Mommy

You go to the first town inn and talk to Anne, then go to the cave in the 2nd overworld traversal area.

Tips: Chitchat with the maid to learn barrier and check the library bookshelves for spells. Also if you don’t have the “Aum” spell for Marrianne, go back to the tent where Hilda was immobile and interact with the bookshelf against the north wall.

I have a question to ask you. (If you got to Chapter 4) For one path thats blocked off by the giant ant, did you fight it?

Yes, I did, the ant just blocks a shortcut.

Does anyone have a guide on how to beat the dragon? I can’t figure it out and have been trying for hours…

I bought the mercenary.

Doing marianne’s paralogue - completely and utterly stuck on the boat stealth section, i’ve spent about 2 hours trying to get through it but it’s really difficult. Is this the way it’s meant to be?

I’ve been able to get to the second room downstairs once so far - the guards don’t seem to have consistent patrol patterns (they will freeze if the light/camera is on them and will only move on their assigned patrol pattern if I cannot see them), they will detect me in a roughy 45 degree cone either side they are facing, they will detect me behind objects if they walk close, sometimes they’ll walk out the shadows at sprint speed (presumably not normal walking pace they patrol at) and then spot me before I can react so I’m struggling.

Is this intended behaviour? I saw some previous posts in response to people having trouble on this saying they can only look straight in front of them which doesn’t seem to be my experience so wanted to make sure it wasn’t borked.

Assuming it is a skill issue, do I lose out on a significant portion of content if I skip the rest of Marianne’s paralogue? I’d been enjoying my time so far with the game but given I’ve spent 1/3 of my time with the game so far stuck on this section I’m not sure how much longer I want to try and perfect it.

This one section aside, it’s pretty good and I’ve enjoyed it. Just getting completely roadblocked on this has taken a bit of the shine off. Not the end of the world as I can skip the paralogue if I’m just shit but I’m absolutely ripping my hair out.

I do believe it’s a skill issue, no offense. I’ve heard multiple people go through the same complaints and I honestly don’t know what to say.
Maybe I’m just poisoned and biased on the idea since I spent so much time doing the guards while testing that it’s so simple to me. I’m really not a good judge for these things honestly. I see people complain about the Dragon fight but I beat it like 8/10 times using just Lysithea and Hilda so I’m very clearly not a good judge for this kinda stuff

Yeah, that common problem of being a game dev, you have to take in to account that players don’t know as much as you do they are going to play your game. I had a similar problem not too long ago in my game design class, where everyone else was struggling to complete my level because I designed it based on my experience, which it was a cake walk for me. Of course it was easier for me, I designed it, I knew a lot more about the specific details in the programing. Being a game dev kind of gives you a skill bias that you have to take into account, which is why different people usually play test it so that you can get different perspectives.

As for the boat stealth section, all the guards have a patrol pattern, but they will sometimes freeze when they are in the camera spotlight, and the guards have different sight ranges. Some can only see straight, others have peripheral vision while you are standing in certain places. I think the perfect fix for this is to make the guard’s line-of-sight visible for the players, so that they can better predict the guards, making the section feel less unfair.

For the dragon, I would recommend to have it continue to follow a pattern each for the 1st and second phases. The dragon always start the fight with the same three moves in the same order, but after that, it devolves into rng for what the dragon is going to do. Since it is the beginning of the game, players don’t have the strength, resources, or options yet to accommodate for setbacks caused by rng, and new players won’t know the strategy you used to defeat the dragon. I’m not considering players trying to fight the dragon without draconic hex, I think you gave a pretty clear hint with burying all the bodies. The problem is that new players have to worry about the fact that they were just told that their new spell (tomb) has a limited amount of uses (3 specifically). 3 uses is very small considering how much of a tank the dragon is. Limited uses makes people hesitate to use it, they will want to use it to reduce the damage from the dragon’s biggest attacks, and not just any attack the dragon uses. The problem with that is that they can’t really predict when to draconic hex since the dragon can just use the same deadly AOE attacks over and over again in a row. When you constantly have dragon hex up, the fight is manageable (up until it decides to start spamming it’s super move in phase 2). When you try to only use draconic hex 3 times in the whole fight, the dragon just becomes an RNG nightmare (especially if it is only Lysithea and Hilda). Making the dragon follow a pattern will, make it impossible to constantly use the same moves in a row, and give players breathing room to recover and plan their next move.

Those two situations are the only ones that come to mind (mainly the dragon), since the rest of the game is either clearer or more manageable. The boat stealth suffers a bit because it is too vague of what each guard can and can’t do, and the dragon fight suffers because how early it is for players to deal with its RNG (especially when you don’t have the mercenary. The dragon just takes a whiff of crack cocaine in its second phase when it is only Lysithea and Hilda for some reason). Aside from those two parts, and some other lesser things, the game is pretty good when it comes to game design.

Finally did it - would guess it took me around 3 hours in total (but I did the dragon first time so guess it makes up for that.)

I had a lot more success once I stopped trying to “play” around the guards, and instead just used trial and error to figure out exactly what I could do. The end of the 2nd floor felt like a bit of a crapshoot, and floor 1 taking a good 30-45 seconds each time I closed and reloaded definitely dragged it out. Still, excited to see where the story goes!

Okay, so on one of the links of the game, I made it to chapter 5, but I’m lost on which way to go and where to start looking for Myst and Wain. I’m willing to hear anything to help me find those two, or be told that I hit the end of the update.

I was able to find and play a few side quests, but found a few bugs. And side note (if the auto item delete problem is fixed, then I’ll be happy cause there’s a lot more fun stuff in the later chapters that do require some of the things you get earlier on)

But still having a blast.
