βGluttonopolisβ is a (soon-to-be) turn-based rpg set in the mystical underground metropolis of the same name. Set decades before the events of βTrojan Fatty,β take on the role of a fake swing superstar known as Lesley Levine, a bright yet lazy tv celebrity musician. After getting in trouble with the Blood Moon Mob for being exposed as a fraud, sheβs met by a mysterious coated figure known whoβve supposedly worked with her in the past, Agent Sterling, an entity made entirely out of wind with a humanoid appearance.
The both of them have one common goal: Escape the city and the mob that controls it. Encounter surreal spirits, survive against mobster reapers, and explore a dense, populated, and especially decorated city world inspired by the 1920s art deco era.
This is the gain jam version of the game. With the two week deadline, a lot of the gameβs intro had to be cutout, from entire pages of dialogue script to levels. Some core story points were cut out as well, so the writing of the game may feel off, from the pacing to the lack of context in certain parts, I apologize for that. Another huge part of the game that was cut out was turn-based battles. I wanna make battles as fun and non-tedious as possible, which will take more than two weeks to work on alone. The biggest selling point of my though is the creative world building, characters (at least with Lesley for now) and almost every aspect of the game being custom instead of default assets from rpg maker. This is my first project where I worked on sprites (let alone omnidirectional) and parallax mapping.
Special thanks to Crower for extensively giving feedback behind the scenes, @forotherpurposes for providing certain sprites and audio assets, and @PeachClamNine for creating a couple plugins that helps with the gameβs UI.
Please let me know your thoughts on the concept of this game.
Hi SeaBea! I love the aesthetic and Iβm very interested since this is the sole game in the jam with the βmale-protagβ tag. However, Iβm not seeing how the description lines up with that. Was this tag applied by mistake?

Thereβll be multiple protags in the game, including a male character, but all the fetishes only apply to the ladies. My fault for misusing the tag so Iβll change it for the standalone release.
Just to be clear, so as this is gain jam version, there is going to be some sort of full version later on at some point?
Thereβll be a more refined version of chapter 1 (itβll be much longer) and maybe even chapter 2 soon!
A very intriguing introduction, with many plot points to be explored and lore thrown about all over the place. And itβs in the same universe at Trojan Fatty? Iβm sold, show me where to throw my money.
The protag tags donβt mean the fetishes have to apply to those genders, if thatβs what you mean. Though I would agree that for this specific release itβs unnecessary since thereβs only a female protag so far.
One of my favourites in the jam in terms of sheer style and presentation. Your ability to write endearingly ditzy characters can only be matched by a couple of equally skilled writers!
.
I loved the setting, the bombastic and imaginative characters and it was one of the few entries of the jam that left me groaning at the cliffhanger ending - I wanted more! I would be a happy camper to see post-Jam development of this for sure!
This was absolutely oozing with style, from the art to the music, the UI, everything. I absolutely loved the whole presentation of it. The characters and the world really made me want to learn more as well! So itβs quite unfortunate that there wasnβt enough time to implent everything planned. I really would have loved to see the planned battles as it would have added so much more to the game experience. It feels like weβre getting on the bus to adventure and jumping off the last stop before it all happens. I would honestly love to see this developed further with everything planned implemented because Stylisticly, thereβs one hell of a foundation here.
