Recovery v0.2 (Furry vore game)

I got the recommendation to post about the text adventure game that I’ve been developing here - it is primarily a vore game, rather than truly weight-gain or fat oriented, but there is still some of that. Hopefully someone here still does find something to like about it! Still very incomplete, but there’s a ton of content already in game (9m characters / 1,5m words of code worth).

Recovery is a furry-centric, story-driven vore survival game with a horror sub-theme. There’s plenty of vore, yes, and a wee little bit of fat/weight-gain, but it’s all part of the rich story woven within (though much is not yet available). That said, what fun is there in just being spoon fed everything? You’ll need to piece things together yourselves as it is mostly uncovered through exploration! At a surface, Recovery may seem like a slice-of-life game, but I assure you that it is anything but… as you’ll find out as soon as the horrors start…

Find the game at:

Nothing needed to run it beyond a browser!

Edit: There is also a Discord server for the game for anyone interested: https://discord.gg/eGNHaRtKWd

Is the vore pred and prey, or just one or the other?

Yes, it’s both in roughly equal parts.

I’m still messing with the latest update myself, but want to leave a comment here saying that I considered this the best text-based fetish game of all time when I first discovered it years ago, and I still consider that true today.

The game is pretty upfront about being vore-and-story first. Still, while weight gain may be second, I wouldn’t call it a distant second, especially if you play as pred, with your own character’s weight playing a role in a number of scenes. Not tons of scenes, but often enough that if you let yourself spiral into obesity you’ll start seeing characters react differently to you, or see events succeed or fail because you’re so fat. When it comes to these more open-ended text games, even more fat-focused ones sometimes make weight just a climbing number that doesn’t change how you interact with the world, so having that here is a nice surprise.

On the non-fat side of things, the characters are well realized, and the vore is well-written. Both of these together make each of them feel even better, and if you’re a fellow traditionalist into oral vore first and foremost, there’s a lot to love here

Wow, that’s high praise. It’s always gratifying to see people enjoying the content I’ve created.
Thanks as well for painting a clearer picture of what the weight/fat elements of the game amount to!

Because I’m partially dumb and curious, what exactly does the coin do?

Think of it like a measure of your health/luck. The coin corroding means that you’ve lost luck and will become more biased to receiving certain bad outcomes for some elements with rng. Flipping the coin corrodes it and dropping the coin reduces your luck to 0.

Is there a way to save the game? Game over mentions it, but im not sure how.

Yep! Two different systems (some saves hosted in game up to the localStorage size limit, downloads of save files also possible). Check the Journal in game and it’ll give you all the info you need!

On another note.

Blockquote I’m currently stuck in my room, unable to sleep without a warning, is there something I’m doing wrong?

If it’s July 7th at night, that’s currently where the game ends at present, with a bad event that happens. The game will warn you of this and stop you from sleeping. I’m not sure what you mean by ‘stuck in your room’ though as you should still be able to leave.

Ah i see, cause i was

struggling to feed Raja his pill, but found that to do so you have to get vored by him, so i was struggling to get the strength that i would need to escape him once i was inside and it led me to getting to that point, and not knowing what to do. Is there any plans to extend the time that you can stay there so that you do not only have a week to get out? (Me personally suggesting that you ‘take’ max’s place, in the sense that you’re on the patient registry.)

I have a question: How do you advance relationships with NPCs?
I talk to them and visit them every day but there were only minor changes, some NPCs had different help requests but that was about it?
What am I missing?

I’ve been toying with this, since I do want time to be the critical resource in the game to tell the story that I want to tell but I also don’t want it to be frustrating. One thing I have done already is that when you get the Out of Time game over, there is a function to loop back to the start of the week while keeping your stats and progression (more or less) intact, as a weird form of NG+.

It’s highly dependent on the NPC! Interacting with them positively generally increases it, so hanging out with them, helping out with their requests, and they will generally also each have items that they’ll like that you can give them to improve your relationship.

The effect of relationship is not immense (and a select few NPCs have almost no response), but it is noticeable for most NPCs. They’ll interact with you a bit differently, be more open in what they tell you, will be more comfortable around you (relevant if you want to eat them!) and less likely to be hostile (relevant if you don’t want them to eat you!).

I’m assuming in order to reach maximum weight you need to eat others?

While I don’t want to spoil myself, I do have to ask before I try as I feel if I try it and nothing happens I’ll be quite upset, but is there anyway to befriend Gilda enough to have her do anything else?

I haven’t actually checked if it’s necessary or not, since you can also get large meals from the cafeteria, but it certainly helps quite a bit.

I must be doing something wrong as it takes almost the whole time frame of the game to get close enough to eat even the MEDIUM sized NPCs… which I still can’t get close enough to in order to attempt it D:

Does Gilda’s questline progress past asking Revain about her? It seems like I’m stuck between Revain saying I need to get her to come to him, and her saying she’s waiting on him.

Oh and this is unrelated- But! Have you considered making weight/muscle roll-over in the psuedo NG+?

Edit: I figured I should give some praise to this game, it’s well written and the characters are genuinely intriguing. I found that meeting and interacting with them was a pleasure, and I was encouraged to try and dig up more about them every time. All of the characters feel three dimensional enough that each of them could stand on their own if I wanted to pick them apart.

A very solid game in my opinion.

The stats don’t carry over, each loop, my fat and muscles reset.
