An idea that I had recently was, as the title suggest, a WG game based on a city managent game as I realised that it’s not really something that has been explored (to my knowledge), as most of the time the WG is focused on a smaller cast of characters, but this idea is focused on the whole city getting fatter due to the player character’s influence.
The closest examples I can think of are:
SFRPG, where the city of Limbo gradually grows with the player’s influence, but it’s not the main focus of the game.
The other being Apostles, however that’s a much smaller scale due to the village being extremely poor.
In regards to ideas I there’s two routes I’ve thought about, the first being a standard ‘mayor of the city’ type affair, which would come with stuff like managing city funds, organising events and also city planning such as putting fast food places closer to residential buildings and the like.
The alternative would be more magical, with the player taking control of the head of a coven/cultist group, that’s focused on summoning a demon/eldritch based around Gluttony and as they start coming to the mortal plain, their influence starts to affect the city, warping reality to become far more hedonistic. Rather than the mayor’s direct influence, this idea would be leaning more towards managing the group, gathering resources for rituals and naturally appeasing the patron that the group is trying to summon while also working on not being caught.
