I’ve also been thinking about where a sequel to this could go. Initially I thought about it all taking place several years after the first game with a new cast of main characters, new antics, and probably head west to explore a new region. The original main trio would take part in the story as side characters and we catch up with what they have been doing.
However, I do like the idea of a sci-fi RPG adventure! Possibilities of what could happen would be nearly limitless! I know most RPG’s just go the fantasy route just because of all the assets within rpgmaker but that alien invasion proved to me that it’s definitely possible to achieve such a feat!
It feels wrong to think about other, speculative feature project before the grand final.
I’ve got the feeling that @Nerds is gonna make it special, and thinking about what comes after seems to take the well deserved attention away.
I might do one better with this idea: it IS a sequel, but set a MILLION years into the future where magic is all but a fairy tale and everything’s all sci-fi and spacy. [like Warhammer 40K]
Maybe a certain demon lady could return, maybe some other being is trying to literally bring the magic back into the universe.
But of course the far-far-off descendants of the adventure trio could just HAPPEN to look exactly like their ancestors yet have completely different personality’s.
That’s part of why I was going to wait until the next update was out (well, actually there’s still probably going to be a few smaller updates after that) before bringing up my idea, but someone mentioning the gang in other sorts of settings/genres was too perfect a chance to finally get out what’s been at the back of my mind for almost a year now. Hopefully I don’t sidetrack things and I apologize for offending you. Words cannot describe how insanely excited I am for the big finale of this game though, as I don’t like using too much spoiler text, I’m not going to be doing much speculating on what’s arriving in the next update. Plus, I have hopes and fears that I’m afraid I might jinx into happening or not happening if I voice them out loud!
I was on the same boat. I didn’t want to share my thoughts because it would look that way, but saw the conversation arise and wanted to toss my two cents on it. I just like hypothetical discussions like this.
It is fun to consider the futures that will befall Emmie, Clara, ETV and Pro, as I don’t think it’s hyperbole to proclaim them (or at least certainly the first two) as icons within the community. Even if Nerds decides never to code again, these characters will long continue to live on in fan content, spinoff stories and cameo appearances.
Because of the depth in characterization there’s a lot of fertile ground to explore and I for one can’t wait to see what new content emerges!
There’s no need to apologise, as there is absolutely nothing for me to get offended about. It’s just that there is a reason, why there’s a rule to not push the developer for the updates, as it’s often discouraging. It takes monumental amount of investment (time) to create a game, especially for a game, that’s already 12+ hours long…
And the way I see it, you go through all of that, for people to enjoy it, not for people to ask you about realising your idea .
Thanks and goodness, I really hope I didn’t give the impression I was pushing anyone for anything! Nowhere did I make a request and that’s what the last line of my earlier post was trying to communicate: it’s just fun to think about. I’d never have the arrogance to think my ideas or suggestions would actually be included in anything or expect someone to act on them; I’ve always thought the most important thing was that the team behind the game realizes their own vision and if other people happen to like it, that’s just a nice extra.
I think you’ve got me all wrong, man. I was just sharing some flights of fancy with fellow fans, not demanding a game be made based on those ideas. And as for enjoying and appreciating the work that’s been put forward here, SB is already my favorite game I’ve ever enjoyed. Heck, it’s my favorite piece of media period!
Not going to lie, I’ve also been thinking since “the whacky fun side quest” that Clara would be right at home in a sci-fi space adventure. Been toying with the idea of some fanfiction in that regard.
This game is one of the best games I’ve played, and somehow has me more into the story than the stuffing aspect. Though I’ve gotten stuck at a spot. Is there way to skip certain areas or such?
i’m technically not “stuck” stuck, but close enough. im at the area in the capital underground where you fight the slimes with snakes, specifically in the room where it’s 3 snakes only. they focus immediately on clara who also dies immediately and i can’t heal her. emmie also dies immediately since their damage somehow scales up.
Are you able to heal up before hand, use sugar rush, have Clara potentially use guard, or something like that? Its been awhile since anyone has been stuck around there.
i’d heal up beforehand but, uh, i don’t know how to, and i don’t have sugar rush. guard doesn’t help either since she has around 130 hp and the snakes do around half that i think
