Fair point. The event could be seen as a small oversight from Nerds.
Itās actually intended. At that point in the story, Emmie hasnāt eaten/binged in 4~6 weeks and was being driven crazy by hunger and the voice yelling at her. Even she has her breakdowns despite being such a good hearted soul. When presented with food in that state she is going to eat it no matter what, unless it hurts somebody. There is a reason why every other animal on the island flees if it can. I suppose that I could have had ETV go āfinallyā but a small crab isnāt much for her. So with all that in mind, I wanted to add in a little scene to reward somebody for remembering to go back to that essentially worthless start area with Pro.
Purity has two items that gluttony doesnāt get, plus a replayable scene. Both items are very strong, an auto regen TP without food (that stacks) and a refillable 100% fullness item. The scene is also one of my personal favorites. I was planning on adding a way to learn the Belch attack in the Capital with a purity run and that will probably close the major differences. I think that is pretty fair.
To be honest, every time I see a post like this I highly regret the purity v gluttony thing. It was supposed to be a little player interaction to change how some scenes went, but everyone seems to take it as this all important force, with players doing second or third play throughs to see relatively small changes. I originally intended a player to pick whatever option they felt was right at the time and not stick to one side or the other. This is partly why I have severely reduced the pure v gluttony choices as the game went on.
Aye, you could sorta tell that it was your aim to have both āroutesā converge from the general tone of the latter half, in which Emmie is firmly established as a character. Part of the issue thought is that even in the later content thereās the occasional dilemma for Emmie presented to the player that plays along this same pure/glutton line, leading a player to infer that a distinct route is still worth pursuing.
Perhaps it may be worth clueing the player into the fact that the options are largely cosmetic? A good point for such a conversation between Emmie and ETV could be when Emmie gets separated from Pro under the mountains- a pure Emmie has the sad realisation that, try as she might to resist the voice, that she needs to use these strange abilities within her in order to survive and not be a burden to Pro.
I could definitely see ETV jumping on the chance to appeal to a conflicted Emmie and manipulate her into relaxing her guard. An uncharacteristic display of conviviality from ETV thatās not at all suspicious!
Alright! This is the sort of thing I was looking for. Sorry for not scrolling through the 800+ comments for clarification on this, but now that I know the purity/gluttony thing isnāt supposed to be a KEY mechanic to the overall story (like it wonāt likely have an impact on the ending, or result in multiple endings), it makes sense that derivatives like the crab scene can happen from both a gameplay perspective and a storyline perspective.
In terms of Purity vs. Gluttony, I was actually referring to things in terms of absolutes rather than specifics. Effectively, in pure Gluttony you get upgrades to Belch, Digestion, capacity, etc. at a much faster rate than in a purity or neutral route, and (while Iām not 100% confirmed on this) it appears that you only get the Bear Claw equipment piece on the pure Gluttony route, even though it is only marginally better than the Insignien Ring, though that might be an oversight or Iām misinterpreting something.
Even though this is moot now due to your response on the matter, the real issue I was having with the Purity vs. Gluttony thing was that the third path, the neutral route, was the most appealing option and it didnāt feel like there was any real reward for going out of your way to strictly choose either the 100% Purity path or the 100% Gluttony path. It was mostly that the 100% Gluttony path felt like it had more rewards, and while Iām not saying they were better rewards than the 100% Purity path, the quantity at least felt like the 100% purity path wasnāt really worth it over doing a slightly less pure neutral path.
I just want to reiterate now that I know your intended stance on the Purity/Gluttony thing being an extra āeaster eggā like function, instead of a ācoreā mechanic like I was originally interpreting it as, these sorts of extra abilities, scenes, items, and equipment FIT much better in the game overall. The player is intended to do the neutral path, and straying from that path isnāt going to (and moreover should not) reward them, but instead influence them to take the much more favorable neutral path. This works from both a gameplay and a storytelling perspective, especially when it is balanced with the writing. I guess what I was really running into was that it never really felt like taking either 100% paths were detrimental to the overall story, so they felt intended and were potentially leading to their own endings, like if you were leading a neutral path you would have ETV becoming more forceful on a Purity path and more distant on a Gluttony path. However, your intention appears to be that they were to be perceived as āextraā and not so restrictive in the overall story.
TL;DR I guess, without the lack of real consequence, I confused these extras as needing to be something more than what they were, and as a result, started becoming overcritical of the differences between the 100% Purity/Gluttony āroutesā instead of simply enjoying the ride. Iām VERY thankful that I now have your opinion on the matter, and wish you luck with the rest of the game.
Wasnāt that staff in the arabic shop we could haggle for supposed to give Emmie a spell for being āpure of heartā? I didnāt get a spell because I play gluttony, but I felt that was worth mentioning.
Everyone has very creative fan art. I am blown away!
Day, uh, four? of constructive criticism.
Jesus, Iāve sunk 14 hours into just this playthrough, not counting alternate saves.
On the journey to Rebhuhn, during the Check the ship portion, if you enter Proās room and then leave again, attempting to re-enter allows you access to a bit of out of bounds area while also softlocking you out of Proās room
As fun as it is to use Accuse on, say, a shark, it isnāt being played for laughs, and it just doesnāt make sense for the ability to apply to non-humans. Or, indeed, humans of sufficient constitution.
This is such a minor nitpick that I canāt actually justify mentioning it, but the kraken should definitely be a squid with 10 tentacles instead of an octopus with 8
Regarding attacks that donāt make sense in all contexts, you can headshot pretty much anything. Plenty of enemies do not have a head
Christ, make that 16 hours. Thereās degeneracy and then thereās whatever that statistic makes me.
hey i need help (spoilers)
okay so iām at that part where on the beach party

Iām having trouble remembering the part of the game that youāre in- indeed, I might not have passed it yet myself. Anything more specific you can say?
ya know where the tell and big women have the party
where you have to do deliver food to the guess
Honestly, just click on literally everything you can.
Do you need to set up the plates and torches? Or get the fish? If you talk to everyone and interact with all the sparkles it will eventually work.
Thatās the worst thing Iāve ever seen and you should be ashamed of yourself.
ā¦ Good job.
Okay, I need some help with some things, please.
Firstly.
I heard from a friend that thereās a quest to upgrade Lilacor, but I donāt know the conditions to get it. Any help with that?
And secondly
How do I get the password for the shady guy in Nordenhaven?
If either of those questions can be answered, I would very much appreciate it.
Lilacor canāt be updated at the moment. Soon, I promise!
After you finish the jungle island, return to the bazaar with Pro. One of the items there he will comment on.
Uploading: image.pngā¦ That is weird, so how come a friend of mine has this quest listed?
And Iāll try that. Thanks
