Starbound Mod: Starpounds Big Fatties

Oh lol I see I see didn’t even know there might be a different fat based addon for Starbound because I don’t have big fatties

The blob hover chair doesn’t spawn in

The controller item exists, but the vehicle itself doesn’t.
Some of items you can find in the files are just placeholders.

Came here just to say, compatibility with balloonoids race would be really cool… and also more clothing compatible with larger sizes, some of the tops available at the hog diner seem to nerf your belly/breasts when worn… but either way, I love the mod, finding this has been a fantastic reason to enjoy a new playthrough of starbound again. Reminds me of Gorge Valley, which i also quite enjoyed. Please continue working on this, me and the homie are sending good karma your way, chief.

Aside from the fact we aren’t taking suggestions for races to do, balloonoids is made by a pedo so wouldn’t accept support for it even if somebody submitted it to be added to the mod.

Oh

And here I was thinking it was a pretty neat-looking race mod that seemed like it was on the silly side. Appreciate that heads up – sucks this game continues to draw less than desirable individuals to its modding scene. :pensive:

Could always make your own races that is your own interpretation. While it may seem difficult or intimidating, making races and compatibilities is actually fairly easy and can be achieved with free software. It’ll take you an afternoon to setup, but it’s honestly just doing the art for the race mostly. And there are an abundance of templates that can help you to make your own race.

oh, gross. Sorry, I had no idea :skull:

Question, what is the latest public update?

It’s 0.1.2 from back in April 18th.
You can see it, and the changelog, under releases on the rightside of the githud page.

hello there, i got a race suggestion you should add! it’s called “Burmecians of Gaia” and it adds the Burmecian race from Final Fantasy 9 into starbound! so it’ll be cool if you added support for it

Hi I am new here I just wanted to double check before extracting the files that this is safe to extract. When I open my download folder and click on the mod file my system starts to chug which never really happens when I download games off Itch.

been safe for years at this rate.

Not that I doubt you, but where did you hear that? A cursory Google search didn’t bring up anything.

Is milk generation based on how much was eaten and does it spend saturation units? (like if you generate milk you will get fat less?)

Yes, milk production is based on the food absorbed and takes away from weight you would otherwise gain, but you can potentially gain more weight than what is lost.

For example, if you have the absorption skill maxed out (and no other bonus from your species or accessory) and you consume 100 units of milk you gain 250 weight. If you put the max 5 points into milk production (which the tooltip describes as 50%) you instead gain 187.5 weight and produce 12.5 milk. You could think of the 12.5 milk as an extra 31.25 weight if you immediately drank it with milk production turned off, but that only gets you to 218.75, still below the 250 base value. Raising milk efficiency by putting 5 points in the relevant skill increases the 12.5 milk generated to 25, and if you immediately drink it as in the previous example it gets you right back to 250 exactly.

Basically, once you have the production and efficiency skills at max you break even on potential weight loss from producing milk. Once you add in additional bonuses to either milk related stats or extra food absorption, however, you start gaining more return on the production. I think Mootants are the best illustration of this (perhaps obviously). I’ll spare you the math details but compared to the last example where you break even, a Mootant is about 12% ahead. Equipping a +200% absorption accessory instead puts you over 35% ahead.

The wild thing is in these examples I’ve been assuming you drink the initial 100 milk with production on, then turn it off, and drink the produced milk for the final total. You could instead leave production on. With low absorption/efficiency it doesn’t make much difference, but as Mootant with a 200% absorption accessory you produce 50 milk from consuming 100. You can repeat that for another 25 from the 50, and so on, and by the end of that you’re ahead on weight by nearly 75% compared to milk production off.

Currently I haven’t found a perpetual motion (milktion?) machine set up; even if you use the Mooshi Cowbell accessory as Mootant you still only get a return of 67 milk on 100 consumed, (or 80 if you take the milky trait too) and the weight gain is greatly reduced without a 200% absorption buff. Who knows what the future holds though; there is not currently a legendary tier milk accessory so maybe some day it’ll be possible.

As a final note I will add the recently added liquid related mechanics and skill make testing these things a lot more fun (and faster lol).

Hey thanks for sharing that! I was hoping to see somebody do the maths to see when the milk you drink producing returns you more than the one you spent, when we get more items related with that share the info please! I’ve been trying to do a build only centered in milk to see how convinient it can be, thank you! x3

My pleasure! It was fun to test as a matter of curiosity and I’m happy to hear it was useful for you. I wanted to add a couple more notes re: milk and its consumption that might be useful if it’s going to be a character focus.

First off, making milk related products vs. just drinking it. Making milk cartons (the food item) doesn’t give additional weight; it’s the same as if you drank the 4 liquid needed to make it. This is also true for buttersnacks and things made with them; the weight gain from eating fried chicken is the same as eating a cooked poultry and the buttersnack separately. That said, you don’t gain much xp from raw liquids compared to prepared food, so it’s probably worth making the food items, especially early on when xp is most valuable.

Second, regarding species and trait choice: Mootant pretty obviously outperforms everything else, but I think you can make other choices work too. Anything with a food absorption increase is good, but really you want to make sure you dodge an absorption penalty (sorry Floran). Don’t worry about food nourishment; that only affects how much hunger food restores but leaves the gain as is so a nourishment penalty basically free stats. If you’re playing Mootant the milky trait feels like overkill, but on non-Mootant it can help make up some of the difference. You can take ruminant for extra food absorption but personally I find the massive digestion rate penalty a bit inconvenient. Predator certainly makes “food sources” more abundant but if you want to go down that path I think you’re better off with glutton in the long run (plus extra capacity is just fun to have).

Lastly, I wanted to note the LactAid Medipen and the LactAid Milk Tank items which you can buy at the Hog diner (under the “medicine” tab). They give one point in Dairy Development and Mammary Magnitude respectively, so you can save some xp by getting those skills via pixels instead. The LactAid Overdrive does not give any skill points but is fun to use regardless.

Pretty much on the nose for the math ^^
Intentionally trying to prevent recursive milk for obvious reasons (the actual production stat is capped at 97.5%).

Additionally though, once the milk efficiency stat is above 100% it also reduces the food ‘consumed’ to produce milk, so it’ll reduce weight gain less while producing the same amount.
