Putting in a cap makes sense, and if you did manage to hit that 97.5% it’s almost a full loop anyway so it’d still be fun to mess around with in-game. It’s cool to hear the extra efficiency still has a use as well. Thanks for your hard work; honestly this project is so cool it made me want to learn about Starbound modding!
I wanted to know if this mod works with sexbound
It does not, and will never work with it.
It’s been awhile. But I have some good news to share. One of the biggest hurdles this mod has faced, having clothing support anything that reveals skin, is no longer a problem.
Thanks to the currently latest version of OpenStarbound. Extra cosmetic slots now exist, allowing for a wide range of possibilities I’d otherwise would’ve had to work around. It won’t be a hard requirement for the mod, but going forward. Expect most clothing to now be expecting you to have OpenStarbound and its extra cosmetic slots.
And now I must do the hard part and start working on a bunch of clothing.
How do I get the extra cosmetic slots?
OpenStarbound, the thing I just said where the extra cosmetic slots come from.
I meant how do I access the extra cosmetic slots, but I figured it out.
Thanks for the heads up. I decided to update the Granular WG mod (again) and I’m going to keep this in mind when I get to the clothing.
For anyone wondering, I’m still redoing the templates to match the newer sprites.
do plan on adding support to any other modded races such as the lycanroc?
AYYEEE thats amazing
Glad to see more work done to this mod, I absolutely love playing around in it and was kind of the final straw that got me to buy Starbound in the first place
Oh hell yea, I wanted to make un-tucked alternate sprites for some of the shirt items like a year or so back and got hard blocked by the skin issue. Excited to see that it can be done now.
I tried OpenStarbound and, weirdly enough, it was doing the opposite of what it was supposed to. It ran worse than the default Starbound to me. My PC was freezing, lagging, and crashing multiple times. Although my PC is not that powerful, I’ve played it before and never experienced this level of lag.
didn’t find the cause, I just moved back to normal Starbound after I ran into a bug of the game deleting teleportation spots, while I was playing, and was back to normal
I was wondering if this was being looked into, and I’m glad it was! Very excited to play with all the new fat fashion options in the future. You’re doing great work!
the granular wg mod still works?!
No and Yes. No, the scripts for old versions no longer work and the spritework doesn’t match or even fit in-between Starpounds current sprites.
Yes, it still possible to make this mod and writing a new script to recreate the granular weight stages was easy. But, as I said before, the main issue is remaking the sprites. It’s mostly just tedious because I’m correcting hundreds sprites to create a new template.
As for how it’s going, I’m working on the Corpulent’s legs and the previous two stages are done. There’s still the huge and titanic stages, but I think those are fine “size-wise” at least.
Here's a gif going from Skinny to Plump
Awesome! Yeah, been trying with mootant to see how fast I can produce milk with lesser food, right now I’m trying to do a build with absorption, I like to see the character get fatter with lesser meals, ruminant seems to be the best trait to choose right? For now I’ve been trying to see which trinket is the best to get a lot of absorption but I haven’t had any luck with the items
Ah I see I see nice I hope everything goes smoothly
Also excuse my large amounts of curiosity how do I see the IDs and stuff for the mod like IDs for NPCs and the like
For items and objects, you can just use the “Show Item Names!” mod. It makes the items/objects internal name appear on the bottom left when you hover over them.As for NPCs, the Starounder wiki has a page that lists all the base game’s NPCs spawn IDs. There’s even a helpful example at the top of the page.
Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to find out their Internal names of modded NPCs. You’d have to be able to look into the mod’s npcs folder. Except for Starpounds, since we can access the mods contents through the github page.
I did a little testing with ruminant since I’ve never actually tried it but to be honest I found the downside a bit restrictive. You’re gaining and extra 25% absorption in exchange for digesting at one quarter the normal rate, which ends up feeling very slow in practice. The knock on effect is that your milk production is also one quarter the normal rate, so while you are technically getting more per food eaten it takes forever to process. I don’t mean to dismiss the option completely as this might be a matter of personal preference, but I didn’t realize how slow 0.25 digestion was until I was seeing it in real time. This was with maxed out skills too, so in a normal playthrough where you’re starting from zero it would be even slower. If your primary focus is milk production I think milky probably beats ruminant unless you are okay with a lot of waiting around (and even if you are, milky might still be better? An extra 25% absorption isn’t even that much compared to extra production and efficiency with no penalty).
Regarding accessories I think the dream choices are Ring of the Blubberbutt and Shifting Ring, both of which give 200% absorption, but are legendary rarity so getting them can be a bit tricky. The former greatly increases digestion while the latter slows it down, so you can adjust things to your preference. I will note that if you have ruminant and equip Shifting Ring your digestion becomes so insanely slow as to be impractical (like it was taking over 10 mins real time to digest from full in my tests). For more common accessories Mooshi Cowbell is a safe choice, especially since you can get it in the Mootant starter zone. The USCM Mootagenic Ring gives a solid 50% absorption and is only uncommon so it’s not too bad to get. In rare you also have the Salty Magamata (which I think is supposed to be called a Magatama if it’s meant to be based on the real-life type of necklace) which also gives 50% absorption along with a bunch of bonus health with no downside. There’s also the Doughy Doe Amulet, which doesn’t change your absorption so no bonus milk production, but it does greatly increases weight gained (but it’s also legendary rarity).
