Starbound Mod: Starpounds Big Fatties

I think it would be more apt to put this in the ModFatties thread, which is fairly FU-focused.

Also, if no one tests it for a while, I’ll make a fresh universe to do so. Out of courtesy.

Any help is appreciated. I do think that this should remain here, though (unless stated otherwise), as it is a modification to the Big Fatties mod itself. I suppose a completely seperate patch could be made for this, to avoid any potential conflict between FU and non-FU users, but I haven’t looked into how it could be done.

I looked into your change. As somewhat seasoned programmer I can tell you for sure, that your change has no potential to break anything for non-FU players.

In general I’d say, the BF main script has some potential to become friendlier for add-on users. While the script itself can only be overwritten (or get imported imported by another script), the config file may be freely modified by several mods, as long as they don’t step on each other’s feet.
A good example would be to move the list of drinkable liquids into the config file, so it could be extended freely.
Another thing I’ve seen is that while the size stages and their effects are already in the config file and loaded from there, the number of stages is still hardcoded whereever it is needed, making adding or removing stages require changes to the script aswell.

I feel like this has already been said, but could you do fat outfits for the maid and butler outfits?

Mods other than Big Fatties Mod are also in this thread, but if you put it together with Big Fatties Mod, it will crash. Can’t you play with Mod together?

had would be better.

Hello im wondering if you would be interested in some help with sheeting outfits and such, im not looking for pay I just enjoy the mod and could use some practice when it comes to animating

Future suggestion for the mod: Chocolate / Vanilla “rain” as a planetary thing, it can turn water into chocolate / vanilla and be… tasty if the player is out in the rain (very slow gain rate)

Also, interested in a server as well, I’d be willing to kick it some money too.

Just want to start this off with, I think this mod is great and super cool.

I really never found any bug other then the three, all with the “Big Fatties” quickbar modification. (which I love btw, not trying to say it’s broken or anything, just telling you some weird stuff that happened with it.)

edit note: This also goes for wall jump, making it unable to use.

If you use the distortion sphere and are any size other then normal, the sphere will float or just won’t move. (This can be easily fix by just turning off “size hitbox” but it would ruin blobs)

Npc pray seem to be able to open and close door when they are inside of you, it’s very annoying.

And the last one is that you can just freeze up when in a bigger size, it happens to be me every now and then, mostly when I go to sit on something. (bed, feeding tub or just a seat)
It also happened to be me when I beamed into a planet once.

It’s all really weird and I hope it gets fixed in the next update.

Aside from the npc one, most of those issues are hitbox related with varying results in if they’re fixable.
Distortion sphere is already fixed now, just waiting for the next update to go along with it.
Wall jumping can’t work as the extended hitbox doesn’t mesh well with it. Though considering the intended sizes, perhaps it’d be unrealistic for a fatty to be wall jumping in the first place.
And the blob size has tons of issues due to implementation. A necessary baggage if it has to exist at all. The blob had to have an increase in height so that any fatter size wasn’t a mess of pixels in the shape of a pancake. But the game still recognizes where the head is supposed to be. Trying to interact with anything results in it trying to place you where a non-blob should be. It’s why the feeding tube had to be adjusted for the blob size so that it could properly work. Its massive hitbox is also an issue as the game was never built with the idea in mind. Teleporting to areas where there’s very little space results in it placing you normally where a non blob should be. As there was no room for the hitbox to squeeze in during the transition.
Problems with the blob are just something that has to be accepted without reworking or finding radical solutions such as making every intractable object raised, or altering world generation for much wider spaces.

I have run into a strange thing during the Erchiuous horror mission, some of the miners just randomly gain weight. I was wondering if the mutant spray attack has a fattening effect or is this a bug in which NPC just randomly gain weight?

your first guess was right, the mutants’ spray is fattening

Dispatch, please.
I was trying to change the digestion noises for more variety, and found a folder in the mod files called “secret.” Inside it was a single .ogg file, “secret.ogg.” My curiosities overwhelmed me, and I found a way to open it in my browser.

I had mere seconds to live until my ears were blasted with Tim Allen’s “Home Improvement” grunt.
curse you :joy:

is there like a updated version of Mod Fatties races somewhere, because the only version I can find the Saturnians don’t have the anything for the Fatty or Blob, and im hoping there’s something more complete

Modfatties stuff has its own thread, also if you look at the mod details which version do you have?

yeah I found a working link to the thread, im using a super outdated version I found here lol.
I have been like picking apart mods trying to make custom sheets for the “make the Saturnians a Cuter Yet Mothy Race” mod
