Temple of Gluttony

A text adventure game inspired by The Lipomancer’s Ruins about stealing a sacred idol from an ancient temple. There are many traps inside, some that will fatten you and others that will spell your doom. Along with stealing the sacred idol you can also find treasure chests scattered around. You earn points for finding treasure and gaining weight, but gaining too much weight will immobilize you. Try to get the highest score!

Just played it. Nice work! I think my highest was 10,375.

Cool start for a game, though my biggest gripe with it is the fact that you’ll just die randomly to the closing walls trap or quicksand on most runs. Having a number or some other indicator of weight visible on the screen instead of purely descriptions would also be nice. Said descriptions are well written regardless, and honestly make up most of the fun of the game. Excited to see more if you continue working on it!

Also I got softlocked in the “narrow-looking passageway” room when I had 0 energy after drinking a weight loss potion.

I ran out of energy and couldn’t progress :<

Like literally no options left

It told me there was a narrow passage way, and I was at an early stage so I was certainly able to squeeze through, but I had run out of energy with no rest area in sight, so it wouldn’t give me the option to continue, but since I wasn’t in a rest area I couldn’t rest and progress

You might wanna check that

this game is good, and so is your art

Got it. I will check that out.

I will look into that. Thanks for letting me know.

Okay here’s a little update.

Hopefully the narrow passageway softlock should be fixed.

I made the odds of escaping the crushing room slightly higher. However I don’t want to make it too easy to escape the crushing walls and quicksand though. As it would make the walking stick and grappling hook a bit redundant.

I also added a new passage in the game info section that explains the items you can find in chests.

Not having a number or indicator of your specific weight was a creative decision but I may add the option to have that in the future.
