The FULL College Experience - Text Adventure (Demo Version 0.2.0)

Related bug; the brackets in the cafeteria eating scenes are missing or misplaced several times, probably from duplicating a typo or two. I noticed a few other weird things like that so a general review for formatting mistakes probably wouldn’t go astray.

You can probably remove a couple of line breaks to make the text more seamless but that’s not the biggest deal.

e: I’ll edit this as I find more mistakes, to save time. I’m correcting them as I go in notepad++.

  • $RMCS is misspelt for the cooking class, disabling the option to partner with your roommate.
  • set $Time to $Time +1)\ and (Set: $EPN to $RMN)\ are missing brackets
  • values are missing if the player looks in the mirror without getting dressed
  • study area occasionally displays the options incorrectly, eg; biology homework was displayed under english on day 2

Pretty fun so far. I can’t say I’ve worked much with Harlowe but Sugarcube was always very intuitive to me, at least as a coder.

One thing though, in the initial clothing style selection Foodie is there twice, it seems to have replaced Rebel.

Protip: You can spoil everything in a twine game for yourself by downloading the twine editor (it’s free) and opening the game up in there

I did what you saidFor anyone who read my question? The answer is yes, that’s the final description of sizes in 0.2.0

@anonymous_loverboy Glad to hear you are enjoying the game! At this time I have no plans to include that kind of content.

@namad It seems you were able to answer this question on your own. But I can confirm your findings are correct. More descriptions/wardrobe related scenes to come.

@cheddar Appreciate the heads up on all of these. Definitely going to be going back through and doing serious proofreading. Just want to confirm since you used some harlowe syntax that you are playing the newest sugarcube version for those bugs. EDIT: confirmed this question myself. please ignore. Actually if you do read this could I get some more details on the study space glitch. I’m having trouble replicating it on my end.

@tkroyal197 Thanks for the kind words! appreciate you taking the time to play. Sugarcube is showing to be very intuitive thus far. Just fixed the issue you noticed. Thanks for the heads up.

@Lundar Didn’t know this was a thing, but yeah anyone can feel free to do that if they so choose.

Going to be showing off a roadmap/goal setup for the final free demo here soon. Just trying to make sure I have realistic expectations for what I can get done in a reasonable time.

Is it possible to add an option to watch tv and order food at the same time?

The veggie bowls and fruit salads seem to be the only meals I receive, even starting with Very Thin. The Greasy Spoon and the Dessert don’t seem to make themselves apparent anymore

Ahh interesting. On my ‘real’ save i started as very thin with medium meal plan which seemed to work fine, with intention to change to large later in the game (when changing plan is an option)

@Halol I’m working on a few variations of that idea so the answer to your question is yes.

@AHumanBeing If you selected the heavy meal plan it will give you the light meal plan due to my error. Fixed for the next version.

Roadmap/update plan coming tonight!

I don’t play text-adventures very often, but this game is really interesting and I really enjoyed playing it. The look customization it’s really cool, I think it gives more personality to the character we created.
I found some bugs, however they were already mentioned.
I’m so excited to see more interactions with the teachers or roommates and more classes like physics and chemistry (my favorites).

Just a question, when I select if the outit is loose and the character is very thin/thin the more weight I gain at some point the description would change to tighter or would it still be loose? or if I select tight and I’m thin, I’ll need to chage the oufit because it’s very small compared to the weight I gain?

and just wanted to say, good luck with the development!! ^^

Also, I went in and “enabled” the heavy meal plan, and found out that it was bugged where the randomizer wasn’t working correctly. I made the code look like the light and medium plans, and it works beautifully now.

Edited to remove the quiz bug report, because it was already reported

Caught my eye as I was scrolling. This is better than what I do. I just took a popular gif/meme. You actually made this, even if it was quickly put together.

I have English set as class #1 and Biology set as class #2, and this is what I see:

@mefiyak Thanks for the kind words and I appreciate you taking the time to play the game! More content to come in the class department! The loose and tight will come into play for wardrobe malfunctions and when they occur, as well as when clothing size is finally implemented properly.

@iheartchubbybellies The biology homework appearing where it shouldn’t be is stumping me at the moment, I’ll have to check with fresh eyes another time. Appreciate the heads up on it and thanks for playing! Also can confirm I’ve got the meal plans working at this point for the next version apologize for the oversight.

@phoenixfelix101 All kind words, memes, gifs, and personal awards are an honor to receive

The Roadmap:

Road to 1.0 (The first quarter complete)

Welcome to the official word on what to expect for the final first quarter public demo. Here are all of the features I would like in place prior to moving on to development of adding a second quarter/winter break. At some point between the current version and this version will have the Patreon active.

  • Ten weeks with diverse, and multiple randomized events that can happen at different points of the day.
    • Waking up
    • Getting ready for the day
    • Heading out to campus
    • Dining Hall
    • Classes (including electives)
    • Between Classes
    • Heading back home
    • Afternoon free choice
      • Nurse’s office
      • Gym
      • Dining Hall Office
      • Office Hours for professors/TA
  • Unique stories for the following characters (For the first quarter)
    • Professors
    • Elective Teachers
    • TAs
    • Nurse
    • Nursing assistant
    • Gym staff
    • Dining Hall staff
  • Weight descriptions for all characters.
  • Unique traits that can be acquired throughout each play through that affect the player characters decision making.
  • More concrete info to come with each info.
  • Ambitious? Absolutely, though I’ve got a good workflow going for plugging in events. The game itself will continue to evolve and I hope you enjoy joining me along the way!

In terms of timeline. I think I’d like to have this all wrapped up by the end of the summer. But we will see as life finds a way to intervene.

Hope this along with the tastes of the game have been enticing enough to keep an eye on the project. I’ll continue to update as major content is added.

This looks great! One question though regarding the unique stories - do you plan to include the roommate and elective partner student in the first quarter demo?

I guess I’m more interested in seeing stories for the fellow students than the staff members, but that may just be me

Cant wait for this though!

Student stories are meant to evolve over multiple quarters but will get there starts in this demo.

I hope non patreons will be able to experience the updates with a delay

Great to hear all that. So far, in pushing the limits of the weight gain, I got my character (5’2", extremely skinny) go from 88.6 lbs to 224.6 in 7 weeks with the heavy meal plan, keeping her at bursting at all hours of the day on the weekend, and changing it to allow deliveries at 10 PM (so I can have her order pizza after finishing her studying for the day right before going to bed).

@Astralimpact Yes i will be working with a delayed release schedule. Don’t have any concrete details for that or when the patreon will be live yet. So not much to say yet on that. But will start working that out soon.

@iheartchubbybellies That’s good to hear on what people are able to accomplish in the game. I’m not sure any numbers need balancing quite yet as more content is added. Though I’ll for sure to reassess as more stuff is added. That changing deliveries to be open until 10 is not a bad idea, might do that.

Found a few bugs. I haven’t looked into whether there’s a SugarCube linter - that might help…

In the “Lunch” thing, if you’ve set it to use the “H” meal plan, the <<set _… doesn’t occur.

That’s because:

<<print either("chocolate milk","soda","protein smoothie")<<set _FoodSize to 12>><<set _FoodCalories to 1500>>
<</if>>

is missing the >> at the end of the print, i.e. it should read

<<print either("chocolate milk","soda","protein smoothie")>><<set _FoodSize to 12>><<set _FoodCalories to 1500>>
<</if>>

Similar for the rest of the meals.
