The Next Big Thing - Stuffing WG RPGMaker Game (Looking for more artists) v0.32 The Doubling Release

hello could you maybe create a discord server so that all of us can join it and give suggestions there? i think it would be easier to keep track of all the suggestions if u did that

It should just be the carrots and the flour
sounds like there might be a bug somewhere

Forgot to fix this one, will upload a new build!

So you’ve gotten the carrots from inside Harold’s house and the flour from the closet in the shed right?

I think a discord server for bug reports and playtesting is a pretty good idea at this point. As the game gets longer and larger, there’ll probably be a need for playtesting from other people a few days before a release goes out, just so I can see what types of issues people have.

The Next Big Thing Discord Server

To echo the score issue, my score actually never reset after any battle, it only reset upon losing a battle. And that only worked until Roslyn, where I also ran into the same issue of being perpetually stuck at 1 point upon revival and
well let’s just say I don’t think I have good enough timing to achieve a flawless run anytime soon.

Oh, interesting! That’s the first time someone’s had the issue earlier on in the game, I’ll check over everything again!

I fear that means that previously no one has been as bad as me, but I’m glad I can help in bug hunting!

Have you spoken with Harold? (the old man in the town hall) I had the same issue until speaking with him even after getting the carrots. Seems like the action of speaking to him counts as “an ingredient” or rather its probably just a flag that has to be triggered.

So, I’ve just played through the game for the second time, first being the first update, and the same thought I had after the first, stuck with me through to the second. Is this story not about Amy and to a slightly lesser extent Emily? Even with the pie scene from the new update, it seems like a majority of the food/stuffing focus is on the mother. Maybe i’m just used to more fast paced games when it comes to the early game, but if they’re commited to being ‘belly-idols’, you would think that there would be some sort of actual show of them trying to eat more and more aside from their classes. Amy practically seems averse to it, as every day there is breakfast sitting on the table, but there’s no interaction with it, so far it seems like it’s purely used by her mother to gorge herself, instead of one of the protagonists. I also understand that you’re personally commisioning the art, which means it’s most likely going to be something added in gradually, which is 100% understandable. My only gripe is with the fact that it seems that despite Amy deciding after the first day of training that this might be fun, she just seems averse to actually doing any sort of stuffing/eating at home, like her mother is the only one allowed to eat food in the house. It’s just slightly off putting to me personally. The actual gameplay itself is great. I’m someone who is generally quite bad at rythmn games, but the rythmn section and other minigames are quite fun, so the actual premise, of it being a rythmn styled weight gain/stuffing game has hit the mark, to the point that so far, those sections of the game are what I enjoy the most. Only other thing about the game i’ve seen is that it seems like Amy is an actual saint. Emily comes off as so entirely aggravating/abrasive. She constantly goes against her friend, and butts into anything and everything. The game is still super enjoyable because I think youv’e done the rythmn/minigame style very well here. Oh, one other small suggestion, and it might just be myself that’s a potato about it, but specifically in the classroom eating scene, it’s relatively hard to get the girl on the left corner to eat the ramen, so just as a suggestion for the future, if you do that type of event again, it might be a good idea to expand horizontally by just one more space, so that they can sit not exactly on the curve of the conveyor. But like I said, that might just be a me problem. All in all, it’s a fun update, game is still also very fun in more than just an ‘unga bunga, me like girl get big’ sense, but the actual gameplay. Looking forward to what this turns into in the future! Absolutely going to follow this closely!

Thanks for all the kind words!

The main issue as always is pacing out the weight gain for the main characters, since if they gain too fast at the start then we’re just left with totally-blobularᔗᔐ main characters. They’re supposed to have gained weight by the time they return from Wheatton , but the art isn’t ready for that quite yet TT

At this point I’m kinda playing around with the idea of making it seem like a Sisyphean task for them as a sort of gag haha, everyone around them gaining weight at lightspeed while their journey is more drawn out and challenging. I dunno, I’m open to hearing suggestions for story pacing in that regards, just thought it’d be a fun idea

I like that idea, it could be said that Amy has a very fast metabolism and Emily has a small appetite/gets full quickly

Oh I have no issue with the idea of slow gaining, and I understand the reason behind it. My only gripe was the actual display/showing of their ‘training’. Like I said, you’d think that you’d at least see her trying to eat more at home once she’s decided she’s actually going to try doing this for real. Possibly just as small as her reminding herself after the second or third day, “Oh I should probably grab at least something for breakfast!” Just as a nod to the fact that there is some sort of change in her lifestyle habits. Like I said previously, it might just be a me thing, but smaller things like that, that end up essentially explaining a change without bringing strict attention to the fact that she’s doing it now, as if it’s an afterthought she’s had as she’s starting to get more involved in the idea of training.

Ye i got those 2, just wondering how much more content is there after that so I know if it’s worth restarting again to finish it

try talking to hank, he’s seated at the table, that should fix things (?), that way you won’t have to restart.

Found a bug: “We can go to market tommorow” can be also triggered when being right behind one of the columns at entrance of the market. This leads to softlock, as the characters are scripted to go down, but there is the column blocking their way. (I found it accidentaly. I unlocked myself by using teleport function of CheatMenu plugin, which I install along nwjs for linux to play the game on Linux.)
