The Queendom of Corpula: A Weight Gain Visual Novel v0.5.1

Somehow only found this game today. Wow! Instantly one of my new favourites. Great job. Can’t wait for more

I think I can probably swing an android version with the next release. It doesn’t seem too difficult, but that perception may change when I actually try to do it!

I’m going to try something a little bit different with this release- no spoilers until it’s out

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed! Thank you!

Overall update for those following the project: I am getting very close to a new version release. Sorry it has taken so long, but I think it will be worth the wait. I haven’t actually calculated exactly how much more content is coming, but from my estimation, I think the new version will nearly double the current content of the VN.

This game is amazing! My only big hope at this point is that we can tell Genevieve the truth soon. I feel pretty bad lying to her and honestly would rather risk Maerwynn’s wrath, even if it means Genevieve slims down again.

Progress update: I’m still close! It’s just a workflow error on my part that’s been slowing me down this last stretch.

When I started utilizing a render queue last year, it became so much less burdensome for me to generate the game’s images that I think I started creating more images per story sequence. It also became easy for me to render a big batch of images, store them in a landing folder for fresh renders, and move on to creating more scenes. That enabled me to focus on creativity and less on monitoring/waiting for each render to complete, which was fantastic. The downside to my new workflow was that I unknowingly created a massive backlog of images that still had to undergo post processing, my absolute least favorite part of the VN process :skull:

Right now I’m in the play testing phase before release, which is also when I do my post processing. I play through the VN, using gimp on almost every image as I go to fix clothes clipping, and my least favorite part of Daz studio, black lines on foreheads… Then of course there’s also some images that I realize are better off re-rendered which takes additional time.

So that’s where I am at this point. I’m open to any tips anyone has for post processing or anything else I mentioned here

Ask a few people to look for bugs/clippings - even if you go through it multiple times you probably won´t find everything just by yourself

Perhaps you can organize the backlog and try to optimize the post processing for efficiency?
I also suggest posting some of your most contested images for recommendations.

Depending on the type of edits you are doing, it’s quite possible you could use ImageMagick to automate various aspects of the post-processing step. With this kind of project, automating the renders is a must and I hope Daz provides the tooling for doing so.

The ideal scenario is you write your dialog, set up your scenes, and then just feed it to a build process that spits out a game. If you are doing more than that, there’s likely improvements to be made, but I can’t speak to the limitations of Daz as a tool.

Also, make sure that the initial exports from Daz are tuned to use the “lossless” setting of the image compression algorithm to prevent generational decay. Both the jpeg and png encoders have options for this.

Personally I’m almost never impressed with anything using Daz but I think 90% of the time it’s because people are lighting their scenes with a nuclear blast that washes out the model.

I don’t this game is for me as I’m far too much of a fruit to enjoy inhabiting a very Straight Guy™️PC but I will always drop by to preach the merits of software automation.

There is renderqueue but it’s got plenty of limitations.

Thank you. I really appreciate that advice. Everything about this process is new to me, so I’m thankful for any advice on process improvement that I can get

At long last, we finally got there… v0.5 is here! Download links in the original post are updated.

What’s new?

  • Brenna weight stages 3 & 4 content
  • Annora weight stage 3 content
  • A new character: Khaira
  • Two unique story paths depending on the one “red” choice that was at the end of 0.4
  • Updated UI and added music for flavor and immersion
  • Re-rendered all images up to Annora’s weight 5 content, giving everything a darker, cozier, more medieval feel
  • Double the images of 0.4 (from 221 to 439)
  • First example of a “blue” choice (doesn’t affect overall direction of the story, but does cause a different scene to play out)
  • Narrative updates from the very beginning of the game that I think make the story much more coherent

As with any update to a renpy VN, please be sure to start a new playthrough to avoid any problems. It’s especially important this time due to the narrative changes and all the work I put into re-rendering images.

Please let me know if you encounter any problems. I’m looking forward to hearing what everyone thinks of the update!

I’ll also be posting a survey soon to see which direction everyone would like me to take for the next update.

Absolutely great update.

Loved seeing more of my fav girl Brenna)

I really like the changes you made to make the game feel more immersive and deepen the storyline- I also enjoy the music you chose but please add a line of code so that it isn´t on full volume when starting… my ears were bursting… (eG.: play music “X.mp3” volume 0.5 loop)

Khaira is also a great addition to the cast and gives me some Cleopatra vibes which I thoroughly enjoy.

Can´t wait to see where the story goes, keep it up)

A new update for this is great to see. I love the rewrite, it does flow better and make the overall story feel more connected. It’s nice being able to see where the red choices go. I personally was a fan of increasing Brenna’s rations. While I love Annora and want to spend more time with her, the other storyline feels more connected with the two girls and we get a decent amount of content with both. Which is what I hope for in the future. I love Khaira’s look and inclusion can’t wait to see what is in store for the girls’. I wasn’t a big fan of the font and I think it makes the names hard to read, but I feel I got used to it over time, idk. I’m mixed on it personally. Music is nice, it’s not overly repetitive or a bad track for being the only one throughout the game and like the font it fits the atmosphere of the game.

A few errors

List of blank dialogue boxes after lines of dialogue errors

  • This is written as narration but I believe Brenna should be saying this line.

I haven’t gotten time to see the old non canon content again as well but I look forward to replaying it again as it’s been awhile but thought i’d chime in with my thoughts in the mean time. The update was great I look forward to seeing more in the future keep up the great work.

The font used kills my eyes. Maybe in the future, there will be an option to switch back to the default one.

Wow. I’ve only done the Brenna route so far but that was one hell of an update. Fantastic stuff. It’s clear to see that the quality of both your renders and your character writing have really come along over the course of this project and I can’t wait to see where you go from here.

I have also only gone through the Brenna route so far, but to echo others, this was an amazing update. Love the characters and the rewrites, excited to go through Annora’s route next and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for this project!

Thanks to all for the feedback so far! I’m so sorry, I hear and see what you all are saying about the font. I noticed that the font is harder to read when testing, but I think because I know my own writing, I wasn’t as sensitive to it as if I were reading it as everyone else is. I will fix this soon!

Thank you. This hint solves the problem!

  • Annora
  • Brenna
  • Genevieve
  • Khaira
  • Maerwynn
  • A new character

So, where do I go from here? The winner of the above poll will be my focus for the next update. There are a few caveats, though:

Some characters’ storylines are entwined. So focusing content on one character will inherently add more content to another character in some cases.

Since Brenna and Annora are at their fourth weight stages (depending on the path chosen), if I focus content on them, it will largely be adding more lower weight stage content. I’ll add some fifth weight stage content, but I can’t get too far ahead with their weight gain from a narrative standpoint.

I’m looking forward to seeing who wins!
