The Tower of Gluttony [v1.6] - Text-based WG Roguelike

oh also I think that applies to the the other two classes as well!

lol I feel bad for just nitpicking but the game is so fun and wellmade I have a hard time pointing out individual bits of feedback other than this one thing

Hey! I’ve really ben enjoying the update! I was wondering if you are planning to add more classes? If so, I had a few ideas as I was playing. I did post this on the itch page, so if you already saw it, you can ignore

Rouge: Maybe a class that has the unique ability to sneak up on enemies before combat. Her unique upgrade could be stealth and the likelihood that she successfully sneaks up on an enemy. She could start with a rusty dagger and a weaker bow for balancing.

Orc: This one may be a little close to the Warrior, but idk. The Orc starts with a better weapon, but no bow and the unique skill is rage. Rage could give you one additional attack one time when you are below 20% hp basically using a Syrup. You could create abilities that use rage also and when upgraded, it could increase the damage the rage attack does.

These are just ideas if you ever decide to add more classes. Keep up the great work!

Hey, happy you’re back and with the new update! the new classes brings in way more replayability to the game and I had a lot of fun with the mage as she feels really different from the warrior. The archer is kinda weird tho. I’d really like to read how everyone else played her to see if it was just my dumb brain not seeing her actual power, but she feels like a less than vanilla character early game due to the low soul gain and the fact that life drain is basically a death sentence taking away almost 20% of her health. Later game (I noticed after boss 2) she’s an entirely different story having absolutely belligerent boss damage, but in between bosses I feel like I’m not doing much but vanilla take chance on below average melee or shooting the odd arrow. Sniping bosses is super fun so I guess a rough early game is fine. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next for this game. In particular I think you might have a creative solution to healer class in this single party member adventure. While playing and getting horrible rng on negotiating with goblins and thinking of how to balance a healer class in the game I thought maybe a goblin cleric who gives up her own weight and thus damage on her gut attack and max health in order to heal might be neat design space, it could be weak healing (like 5-10 health) so it doesn’t end up being better blocking until maybe you show your faith with relatively weak holy magic so as to not step on the mages toes and that gives stacks or something to make the healing gets stronger or maybe just give up extra weight for it idk. Anyway great update and good luck with what comes next! Sorry for all the edits it’s late lol

Yeah, this has been reported a couple of times. It should be less laggy on the most recent patch (1.6.1), if you aren’t playing on that already.

I believe the cause is that whenever a link is clicked in Twine it makes a copy of the current game state and saves it to the history (which is what allows the backwards and forwards history arrows to work), and if the current state has a lot of variables (and/or the device being used to play the game has slow memory) it can cause this lag. I think the slightly inefficient way I programmed the inventory system might be to blame somewhat. I’ll see if I can improve it, though it might be tricky to change this late in development to be honest.

Always happy to hear ideas for the game. Thanks for sharing!

I second the suggestion to make the Imp girl from the feeder fairy encounter playable, I really like her design. Not sure how the tower disappearing at the end would work for her though, haha. Maybe she is trying to usurp the queen instead and could have charisma/negotiation be her class skill?

Though having her bring the feeder fairy with her would be awesome.

If we are talking playable characters I would like a priestess or monk class. As in they have spells but mostly focus on buffing themselves and using a weapon. Also a bard would be nice.
