The Weighting Game - WIP

is there a list of bugs? since tiggertoo’s given up on the project, i might as well try to fix the bugs in my copy

I believe there was a list patreon but since that is now gone not sure if someone had it saved in this tread or saved somewhere else.

There was a Patreon and people were subscribed and supporting the development. (Oh, you meant develop it without a release?)

And at least one of those supporters was a mole, sharing the WIP builds with the rest of the internet for free.

Obviously I don’t have access to Tigger’s financials, but I’m >90% certain he was developing this at a loss. I understand people wanting to enjoy something despite not being able to afford it, but to rip money from someone who likely hasn’t even turned a profit yet… that’s just nasty. And as sad as I am to see it die… I also can’t blame him for not wanting to continue pouring money into something someone is that willing to show negative respect for.

Before i used to watch belly rubbing video, bit because i was completely addict to it, one day i decided to stop.
I searched for film and else but this world seeams just to reject fat girls…:pensive:
When you uploaded 0.3 i downloaded 0.2 test and after already searching everywere for other game that gives feelings like this one… but no one works as yours… yours feel more real, more interactive…
But i played your game for 9h(3 days) and it was an incredible experience… even the 180lbs easter egg…
But i did not suscribe to your game because i was scared and its really time consuming!
I never liked a game so much…
And its not a game full of+18 scene…
I really like story games in general.
I think that if you still have some hope to finish the game you can tell your personal story as a developpper in your 0.8 version(if you don’t give up)
Thank you for your understanding
I like your kindness of making so many boys happy here…
Your game is the best of this forum, i promise!
And when you feel better , can you tell us what has engncouraged or inspired your story? And what part of the story is something that comes from your personnal life?
I thank you a lot for putting this 0.7 version…
I even wondered if i will make a game like that…(i am a 3d blender artist)
I drawed my crush once but it was strange…

Never mind thank you for what you brung with your time!
Now i suscribed and downloaded 0.5 illegaly… i can’t wait to discover the 0.7!
Hope you will find way in the future to forbid art stealing

about download: Hey you can download mac version and use Renpy software to open it, or you can try with your not private navigator i tryed with my google account and it just download fine

Same. While it’s Not My Game, I’m happy to assist with making 0.7 as playable as possible.

I’ve been playing this game for a while now, (playing this one feels like i’m playing another game, it have so much stuff to do, comparing with 0.2) it’s so sad that it end like this. I truly believe that it’s the best game around here rn… but i think it’d be good for you if you keep it in hiatus or idk… Well i guess it’s up to you tigger.

Yes, i mean developing without a release.
I have discover his game on a gameplay video on youtube and could have waited a year or two for it to be fully released. He just should have make test versions for people that are paying enough whom he trusts.

i was a suscriber of his patreon account for 5 months and would have continued to pay for one or two years because i know how much work such a game can cost. But he should never make this game under time pressure and it was predictable he cancel it. I think its not just the pirates, he just want to have time for other things than a fetish game

Unfortunately, there’s no actual price that can be placed on trust…

But if a person pays enough money for a thing, why should he want it for others on the internet?

For a personal rant: Reading the comments here, I think it is clear many of us believe that the end of development probably has less to do with pirates and more to do with the creator’s decision to leave the project. There are many possible and understandable reasons for this: loss of interest, burnout, frustrations with players pestering him for a release, limits in using DAZ to render heavier bodies, changes in financial support after 0.6 and 0.7 took longer than expected, etc, etc. Who knows. There is even a chance that maybe it was because of piracy and that he truly believed that it would just stop by taking a stance.

But, at least for me, there is no way to know for sure and development has never been much too transparent. Tiggertoo ceased to disclose his income and number of Patreons more than a year ago, asking us to blindly take “his word” regarding any changes on either or him not making any profit from the game—which, as someone that has used DAZ assetts, is something I am not sure I have ever entirely bought. (I mean, this is the internet… trust can only go so far.)

That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if the recurrent threats alienated other patreons and drove them off. I remember joining others in increasing our financial pledges to the project when the discussion about pulling the plug was escalating. And I also remember that Tiger made a post claiming that he felt humbled by the support, adding that, with it, he felt that would be able to continue regardless of leaks. This seemed like the sensible path. If huge corporations have not succeeded at curving piracy, how can an indie developer hope to do so? …Yet, some time after we increased our pledge, warnings that the game would be canceled re-emerged. This should have been the writing on the wall for me and other supporters.

I am not going to lie: of late, this has been a somewhat embittering ride. Because of the recurrent threats to end the game, as well as scarce and vague development updates, there have been multiple times in the last year when I considered canceling my membership. Why invest on something when it feels like gears could be stopped at any second based on the creator’s whim? This, even though, as multiple people have suggested, ceasing development made no rational or financial sense, and, after having a library of DAZ assets, any new future game produced is likely to return an income.

In the end, I guess part of me wishes to have seen sooner that this was coming.

To clarify for anyone else, looking at the code, this version includes bugfixes that were not present in either 0.7 or 0.7a… making this essentially 0.7b

Even if it’s not fully bug free, it should/will have fewer bugs than prior downloads made from patreon.

I was always sceptical about Tigger’s claims that he didn’t make a profit on the Patreon money, here’s my reasoning:

Just before he made his Patreon count/earnings private he was receiving $1,400+ a month, and this was still trending upwards. Source: https://graphtreon.com/creator/user?u=6914908

Daz assets can be pricey, but you would have to buy A LOT of them to not make a profit when earning that much. It’s about $20 for an outfit (https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-azura-outfit-for-genesis-8-and-81-females) (assuming you aren’t savvy and buy the clothing bundles), and again about $20 for most of the scenes used in the game (https://www.daz3d.com/burger-restaurant). Was Tigger buying 70 outfits and/or scenes a month? Judging from what is used in the game I would say no where near.

Obviously there’s the cost of electricity as well, but if you were running a 1000W PC 24/7 for a month at £0.15 per KW hour (the average rate in the UK) it would cost you about £108 ($150). Not going to make a sizable dent in the Patreon budget.

It could be that he spent a lot of money in the months working on the game before his Patreon was setup, so any later profits were used to offset the debts from previous months.

I think it’s a fair guess to say that his Patreon subs probably carried on going up after September for quite a while, especially with the release of 0.5 and 0.6, and he was likely earning $1500/$2000 a month. In my opinion it seems very unlikely he wasn’t making a profit from it (a profit I would have said, up until a few days ago, was well deserved; you can probably guess how I feel now).

It seems very silly to throw away that level of support/income just to make a point.

I’d be willing to do this sort of thing as well, but only if tiggertoo specifically gave me/us/here permission. Otherwise I don’t want to just post his code online.

Also…

He said his support numbers dropped though since that time, and that they dropped rather sharply after pirated copies of 0.5 became widespread. So, I don’t know why you’d assume his support numbers would go up month after month?

I don’t see how all the badmouthing and accusation going on here is productive. People are entitled to their feelings about this if they were contributing to the project and hoped to see it completed, but Tigger has been an active a member of this community who seems to bring a lot of positivity to discussions about other people’s projects, and I don’t see the point in dragging him the way some are doing. He gave fair warning that the piracy was draining his motivation and he felt he had to draw a line for one reason or another. I imagine anyone who’s been on these forums long enough has seen a large number of incomplete projects, but as incomplete projects go, The Weighting Game is still a high quality product with lots of content. I say, we get what we get and we don’t get upset, don’t sling shit and spread rumors. It’s toxic.

That bump is when 0.5 released, the dip is presumably after the leak. But even after the drop it’s still at a similar/slightly higher level than before the release. It’s an educated guess, as there is no more data available, but there is definitely an upward trend.

Wish you all the best man, look after yourself.

See, that’s all anyone needed to say about it. Why not just say “thanks for the game, tiggertoo” and get on with life?

What you describe is exactly what happened to me. I gave additional support when he made his claim about pirates (even though I was suspicious that he wasn’t publishing his numbers), and then when he kept childishly continuing his feud, I pulled back my support to a lower level because I didn’t want to invest so heavily in a project that might get pulled for reasons I had no control over.

Because I wasted my money supporting a project that is never going to be completed, and I’m quite rightfully upset about it. The atrocious handling of the cancellation and complete disregard for his Patreons adds insult to injury as well.
