The Weighting Game - WIP

I was actually thinking more like the chair breaking scene or the midnight feast. A single scene that occurs at a particular weight that makes for a fun one-off. It is relatively easy to do compared to a new location, it allows tigger to explore some fun scenarios that might not be worthy of regular occurrences but still could be fun, and it helps make playing through the same scenes to gain weight more enjoyable (especially at higher weights, where you have to gain more weight per stage).

That said, I do also like the multiple paths to certain locations as it makes the game feel more alive and dynamic.

I like the one-off scenes too. There’ll definitely be some more. Mostly of Alice, but at least one (so far) for another character, and I have a few others that I’m contemplating.

Hey Everyone! So I want to replay the game, but whenever I delete All the save files, I can still skip All the text. Is it possible to “reset” the skip text option? Thanks!

You need to delete the persistent data for the game. The file path for windows will generally look like this

C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\test-1570807812

(If you have a more than one drive it you may need to access the D, E, etc. instead of C. Username will be replaced with whatever your log in or screen name is for the computer and I think now if I’m not mistaken the 1580807812 is actually just called The Weighting Game in the most recent versions.)

You can delete the entire folder for the weighting game or just the persistent data file either one should allow you to have the skip dialogue reset. If you have issues finding the specific game folder you can make a save and then go into the renpys roaming data folder and the weighting game should be the top folder sorted by date modified.

Delete this file v0.7-pc\game\saves\persistent
and this file C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\WeightingGame\persistent
then all text unseen

true hard work takes time

the ezer way and what i do is just open file explorer click this pc search renpy delete the folder that comes up ONLY DO THIS IF YOU WANNA DELETE ALL RENPY SAVES

If you do that you delete all save data and persistent data for every renpy game you have ever played. Not everyone wants to lose progress for all games they play.

my bad didnt think bout that i fixed my post warnin it deletes all saves

You also could just… not choose to skip seen text…

If you have 0.7 and it’s from this site (or my Patreon/Ko-fi pages), then you have the latest version.

There’s no release schedule for updates. They’ll just be ready when they’re ready. 0.8 is ‘nearly ready’ (yeah, I know, I’ve been saying that for a while), but thanks to the constant piracy of the previous versions, it’s going to be a closed test version and that’ll probably be the way of things until I finish the game.

@Schattenjaeger Some of us like skipping. It’s fun. It’s good exercise. I asked Alice and she told me so, then threw her rope at me and asked me to go trade it in for a pizza.

How would you be able to be “chosen” to gain access to the closed test beta?
Been a big fan of your work for some time now

Can’t speak for Tigger but imagine he’ll announce that when 0.8 is basically ready, and chose people he feels he can trust not to leak/provide feedback. Although I would be incredibly surprised if Krodmandoon wasn’t number one on the list. :joy:

If Krodmandoon isn’t first on that list we riot.

Welcome @gettothechopper to the forum. @tiggertoo has stated that when the time comes they are likely to start another thread asking for volunteers for the closed test version.

One thing that could easily be done is make each version ever so slightly unique so that way if the test version does get leaked you’d be able to find out just who did it

Maybe, but if i’m not mistaken there are a TON of different events with small variations. I think it would end up being better to try and keep things relatively small/private, just for Tigger’s peace of mind at the very least.

I am really confused. I feel like I have hit a stopping point. Like I have not progressed at all, but I also feel like I haven’t gotten into the good portion of the game yet. I feel like I have made all the right decisions, but I have gotten any story progression whatsoever. What should I do?
