The Weighting Game - WIP

Hmm with that amount of content added have you finally answered the joke you make about the creator adding a function for the supermarket? Or will that option be cut entirely? (This is asked in a playful manner)

So, question here, the waitress at the cafe only has two weight levels currently, right?
Am I the only one hoping she can be a potential love interest in the future, with a few more weight levels?
I keep hopping by the cafe during lunchtime to see if she pudges up a bit more.

Also, at the risk of being bothersome, but…harem route, is it possible?

Yep, only the two weight levels as of 0.3. As mentioned earlier in the thread, harem route is unlikely given how nearly the entire game would have to be rewritten to support that sort of system. The writing and scenarios are all specific to Alice, rather than boiler plate scenarios with the adjectives swapped out in response to different weight levels (nothing against games that do that).

I did start working on the supermarket a few weeks back. Having to constantly buy stuff (and keep checking the inventory for the relevant items) got tedious very fast, so it’s now been removed. Probably permanently.

@HellaGunz is correct. The waitress is just a background character and will remain so.

But she’ll at least get even bigger over time, yes? Maybe one or two larger sizes, she looks like she’d be a bottom-heavy lady with wide hips. Also, I would suggest keeping the supermarket, just as an occasional meeting point for interactions with the characters.

Honestly I agree with this sentiment. I like the gameplay flow plenty without having to manage food resources.

A different way to represent shopping expenditure is to maybe have costs associated with more lavish options during events. For example, cooking a romantic dinner could have a small cost (like -5 bucks) as opposed to the quick and easy meal - an option I’ve never really used. Another example could be producing more expensive “fancy” chocs when the option of chocolate presents itself for a small happiness boost.

Not that I’m necessarily looking to tax the player, but more to pay for boosted effects. Currently we’re making money hand over fist by regularly working what with the bonuses and pay increases so something to bleed off the excess money wouldn’t be a bad thing - unless Alice’s appetite is soon going to put our wallets to the test!

I’ll be taking a closer look at the finances once 0.4 is up and running. Bit too late to do more tweaks now if I want to get this version out by the end of the month

edit seeing as I need to do a couple of complete playthroughs anyway, for testing purposes, I’ve tweaked the wages very slightly.

0.4 Test version is now up on the Patreon page

(Please only message me about this version if you find a glitch. I got swamped last time :stuck_out_tongue: )

Hey just wondering if there’s a way to clear the cache for seen text? I want to do a clean playthrough of v0.4 and I’d love to see everything building up without going through all of the text after seeing it the first time of that playthrough

If you are using windows you can check the following directory:
C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\test-1570807812
This the renpy folder for this game containing all the saves. There’s a file there called “persistent”, my guess is deleting that file should do what you want.

This worked! Thank you very much for the help <3

I’ve just played through the game for the first time, and it’s absolutely amazing. Barring the character of Hannah, who I actively avoided after the first couple of interactions, I really enjoyed the game. The slower progression of Alice’s gain is so satisfying, both visually and story wise. But it’s not just her body that changes. Over time, in mind and body, she becomes a true fat ass. I also just want to say that I love how Alice’s face has been filling out. There’s nothing cuter than chubby cheeks and a double chin, so I’m glad you’ve embraced that. Some creators tend to stay away from that aspect of weight gain.

I dont know if this is a glitch or not, but there was some time towards the end, after she had sort of accepted being a glutton, that she briefly did a 180 and began repeating diet dialogue.

The lead up to the end screen had me so excited for more, so seeing The End was quite disappointing, though understandable. I’m able to keep playing past the end screen, though I’ve had consistent crashes. Is there anymore new content beyond the ending screen as part of v.04?

Glad you like it! Well, apart from Hannah :stuck_out_tongue: I’ve never actually tested what happens if you completely ignore her, but aside from missing out on some of the story, I don’t think it’ll break anything.

From the outset I tried to avoid the ‘girl eats slice of cake, girl balloons by 50 pounds’ type of thing. I’ve tried to go for a more realistic speed, although this is always going to be a trade off between realism and enjoyment. As I’ve said before, it’d be really boring it it took ten days or more of game time for Alice to add a single pound.

Alice will still go to the gym up to the end of 0.4. Possibly less frequently depending on how her stats are (there are several that affect gym visits). After 0.4…? You’ll have to wait and see

Anything after the end of content message is simply placeholder. I haven’t tested beyond that point so errors are inevitable. I did have a hard cap in place at one point to prevent this, but it was hugely unpopular, so I removed it.

I agree with the above poster that the mental change is just as satisfying as the physical change, although something that I couldn’t help observing in the latest version is that there didn’t seem to be quite the same mental barrier in Alice for the player to overcome this time round. Was the early-game made slightly easier in this respect?

This might be my own subjective experience, but I felt that earlier versions had Alice be a bit more resistant at first, more upset about her marginal weight gains and quicker in turning down the office donuts for example. Yes, the gameplay was slower but it felt like a proper challenge to erode Alice’s willpower and her flighty disposition was a testament to that- it felt more like a genuine reaction.

Pre-v0.4 Alice felt like you were corrupting an athlete; v0.4 Alice feels like you are coaxing a feedee out of her shell. Does anyone else agree?

Just to be clear, I’m not saying it’s bad per se, just recognising that it feels slightly different. If this is by design then I’m happy to roll with it.

Absolutely nothing in the early game has been changed apart from a very slight tweak in how often Alice goes to the gym.

… or it could just be all in my head, haha X3

Thanks for clarifying - at least to curtail any wayward speculation.

A shame that this is now patreon only, but tiggertoo made the choice after too many complaints with free versions. The new update do sound nice

Given the quality of the game, I’d say this is the ideal way of offering the content. 0.2 is a small snapshot of what to expect, then you can pay an amount to get the latest version. To me, it doesn’t make sense to keep making public versions if there aren’t major gameplay changes up to 0.9, at which point you’d make people pay for the missing 10% of the game. This way, when it does get a release, there’s already a reasonable trial version one could try.

Edit: @tiggertoo I think you left in part of the debug menu in the 0.4 Final? This was after loading a quick save. https://i.imgur.com/S5BMGn4.png
