Are you playing in-browser or via one of the downloadable versions?
Is anyone else experiencing slowdown/stuttering?

I’m playing online, and it works just fine for me.
I play in browser, since that seemed to play just find for any of the earlier versions.
To start, aside from the occasional hiccup (It seems to occur more frequently the later into the game I play) and the growing wall of Warning: Write Error text literally any time I click anything, I haven’t encountered anything game breaking.
Either way, I want to say I absolutely love the Matt feeding scene, and oh do I hope there’s more like it in the future! For a community deemed Worshipers of the Gain, I’m surprised there aren’t more people forcing food down your gullet.
EDIT: I’m also surprised there
Holy smokes did the main character get a metabolism boost though. The only way I can truly gain weight in the beginning is with the candy in the Halloween event! and even then, I have to eat it constantly if I want to make sure I get fat. Even when stuffing MC to the limit in the beginning it was impossible to put on weight without candy.
Also seeing as how the clothing store seems to be a key place as well, I feel it should be introduced at a lower weight, whether it be your clothes ripping a tad more easily or just being informed earlier, it would be nicer to be directed to more content than just two simple locations at the beginning.
I can’t wait for more and your writing is excellent. Keep up the good work!
Edit: I’m also surprised that there aren’t any citizens looking to fatten you up by giving you extra candy, or that depending on your weight, you’ll be tossed more candy in general.
Could I trouble you guys for your what OS you’re both running? I’ve found some documentation from a couple years back that says Windows 10 struggles with audio. I’m running Win10 on my own system and notice some lagging in the browser version of the game.
In the meantime I’m going to compress the audio to a different format and see if that helps it run better. Expect that update either later today or tomorrow.
Sorry to hear you’re having tons of errors. Could you please copy-paste it here so I can see what’s going wrong? I had a pretty long test-sesh this morning and couldn’t replicate the error on my own computer. Cheers.
Stay tuned for similar content
Yeah, just tried it and will definitely be re-balancing it in a bug-fix later this week.
Cheers for mentioning this, I’ve added a slight rework to the Trello that should show up soon.
Honestly, there were tons of additional things I wanted to include in the Halloween update, but the way that I’ve set it up meant it’s severely time-limited (The Halloween options only appear in real-world October).
Win 10 and firefox for my browser.
And how do you unlock the Matt feeding scene? I’ve got to the point of seducing him, but after trying to flirt for awhile, I couldn’t manage to progress any further.
I also hit a deadlock at one point. Got too fat for the cab after sleeping one night, and my clothes ripped. I was locked in a loop where all I could do was go to the clothing store to fix my outfit, then my fat ass made the cabbie’s overworked engine blow up.
Trying to get the burger joint bad ends proved impossible, as well. I suspect it can still be done, but it’ll take solid effort to manage it, I think.
Does energy do anything at this time? It never seemed to have an impact on what I could and couldn’t do, even when it was in the negatives. Not sure if that’s a bug, or the content for it hasn’t been fully implemented at this time. For the record, this was generally while my character was eating, as she barely set foot in the gym.
All in all, though, a very solid update. Looking forward to what comes next.
I’m currently running Windows 8.1 and have been playing in a Firefox tab along with a few other things open. But closing everything, except for that, didn’t seem to really improve it much at all.
I’ve run into a few bugs while playing the latest update.
SyntaxError: invalid syntax (script.rpy, line 351)
. Probably has something to do with the popularity check for the Halloween costume ending. Secondly, when he goes to adjust your outfit one time, the error screen says something about gender
not being predefined or something. There’s also one message, when asking about the town, where [gender]
appears instead of an actual noun. It’s the one where he comments about you going around asking about the town.I’m looking into this at the moment. I think that the issues some people are experiencing are because of the new music added to the game. I’m going to have a go fixing it in a bug-fix, but I’m still researching the issue at the moment.
It’s a bad-end, obtained by getting him to fix your clothes while very unpopular and making him upset while he does it. A romantic overfeeding scene is in the works.
I’ll keep this deadlock in mind. Thanks for pointing it out!
I’ve just released a bug-fix that should make reaching these easier. Have fun!
Energy currently affects how the player gains weight. If they expend lots of energy and have low fullness, they’ll lose weight overnight. In the future, having low energy will cause the player to get stranded and result in bonus scenes.
Cheers! Thanks for playing!
Thanks for pointing these out. I’ve just released a bug-fix that should resolve all of these issues.
Thanks for playing!
I might have just not tested the game enough, but I think that there is an occasional glitch for Terry’s dialogue regarding the burger joint. Sometimes there is no comment from him, and it goes straight to the “talk,” “order food,” and “goodbye” option menu. I think it may be that one of the quotations is being skipped, namely the one describing the burger joint as the only food place in town. I think I got that quote in early, but subsequently in the same game it has not worked.
Oh, and hold up, I can go trick-or-treating with my clothes still torn? Isn’t that, like, streaking?
Thanks for pointing these out, I’m investigating now.
Hey, sorry for taking a bit to respond, but this is the text that pops up:
Warning: write error: A mutation operation was attempted on a database that did not allow mutations.
This has actually been happening ever since the first time I tried the game when it was more recently released. The first time I make a decision, once it goes to the next set of options, that text pops up. Any time I make another decision, another one pops up, and then another, and then another. After making so many choices, any time I click something and it goes to the next set of options, a giant wall of text just sits in front of all the options. It goes away in a second, but it can be a nusciance.
I have the same problem with no thing with matt’s costume idea it won’t let me see it
I don’t suppose I could get a list of the endings for the current version of the game? I’m LOVING it thus far, but I kind of want to know how to get the various endings. Thanks mate for the game!
That’s definitely a weird one. Any errors involving the game’s code directly should result in an impassible error-screen, so I think this is an external issue-- possibly your browser.
I don’t suppose you’ve been playing the game in Firefox and incognito mode? Multiple threads I found that listed the error you mentioned involve both of those. If the answer is yes, I’d advise you to try a downloadable version of the game or use a different browser. Sorry!
Sorry to hear you’re experiencing a bug, would you mind clarifying a bit? The more information you can give about the bug and how you reached it, the easier it’ll be for me to fix it. Thanks!
Sure thing. The current endings in the game (version 0.5) are:
The Halloween content expires after October. Have fun!
Thanks! I’ll give them all a go!
The glitch is that I have 0 popularity and I click no and it shows a white screen and defaults to me clicking yes
Ok. Just so I understand this correctly: You’re doing the Halloween event and are at the bit where Matt offers you a costume, and you’re selecting “No” to his idea, but it gives you a white-screen and defaults to yes?
What build of the game are you running? Windows, Mac, in-browser, etc?
Well it happens in browzer and on the windows
