Yurri's Magic Potion Workshop (WIP)

A short RPG game, joining in the adventure of Laura, on her way to become a pro potion-brewing witch. But in the end, she accidentally balloons up her master…?

I’m very pleased to present to you a short project, as well as my first game project to participate in this year’s Gain Jam. This game featured a couple of short gameplay with an ‘totally unexpected’ end as this year theme.
Though I can say this is more of a concept since it lacks of many things I can make it out of my head into the game, like a feeding mechanic and such. But I will make some updates and new artwork for the game in the future.

I hope you enjoy it. Please report me any bugs you found and feel free to suggest me any ideas you want for the game.

I can’t find the midnight ink

It’s on the right corner on the kitchen’s table.

It seems that there isn’t a light around the corner

I’m not sure what happened… But I just made a quick fix update on Itch. You are supposed to see the Midnight Ink glowing again now.

I get this warning from Itch when I try to download.

Fun little game, as you’ve said more of a proof of concept rather than a fully fleshed out experience, but what’s here scratches a certain “cozy” game itch. The lovely original artwork adds a nice personal touch.

Only bug to report is as follows: when giving Yurri (or is it Lyra?) the herculean might potion, she says nothing, yet when given the memory erase elixir she talks about her muscles, I’m assuming as though she has tasted the herculean might potion instead.

Quick question, if you don’t mind me asking, if we’re considering future additions to the game, would the current ending be the limit for Yurri in terms of size? Just askin’, cause I’d love to see more~

Best of luck with the contest and I look forward to seeing the teasers you’ve planted in the game completed!

It’s not that my game has malware or anything… You can make some scans on the game files if you want.

Thank you! It’s my first time working on RPG Maker and the fact that I struggled with switches and events, there are still some conversation that occurs out of my expectations in the game. “Lyra” is the old name for her in the beginning. Then I choose to go for “Yurri”. But it seems I forgot to change one somewhere…

Anyway, I’m definitely aiming to expand the size for her. There’s even a “Fertility Potion” for a pregnancy ending I intended. But for now, I can confirm this is not her final size and I would make her bigger in the future.

I’m still working on it, I want to change the wacky potion brewing mechanic and add a feeding mechanic somehow. Thank you once again for your feedback!

I’m assuming it’s quarantined because they only registered their itch.io account 14 hours ago, according to their profile. But I don’t think it’s likely that an RPGMaker game could actually have malware in it.

On another note, you should REALLY set it so the arrow keys on the keyboard control movement, not just WASD, because the ‘confirm’ and ‘back’ buttons default to Z and X, and it’s very hard to use them with two hands when they’re all on one side of the keyboard.

It also seems like the potions don’t use all the ingredients they say they do. I keep making Health Elixirs but they aren’t using well water.

Some of the responses Yurri has to potion tasting are mixed up, also.

Overall, though, I think this is pretty well made, and a fun concept! I’d love to see this keep being worked on.

Is that so? Let me find a way to make the game be controllable by both way the next time! And yeah, I know some of the conversation in game were all messed up, so I’m still working on it! Thank you for your response.

SO how much is developed weight gain content in current update? Looks like even large amount of bread does not do anything to our master (i got tired after like 20-25 breads) and i can’t find bat wings to make potion of growth.

In the basement. Once you make that potion it triggers the end-state, so save before it. I’m not sure if there’s 2 different endings currently, but the one I got had a number on it and I was given choices beforehand. I forgot to save so I didn’t get to check

Like I said, the feeding mechanic isn’t exist yet. So right now giving her food only just a way to interaction, unfortunately.
I will make an announcement right away after the next update is released.

I had no idea there is basement, unless you mean location with cauldrons, then it does not have bat wings

There’s a door in the backwall of the cauldron room, interact with it, go ask yurri for the key, then go down, there’s a bat sprite you can get bat wings from.

I really have to make a walkthrough for my game…

That’s amazing game thank you so much and can you make belly stuffing route? I’d like to see more of this game there’s a story potential here too.

This is a good base for a game, and with a very lively map design. There’s clearly been a lot of time and effort put into making sure each location has plenty to look at. The only (very minor) criticism I have with it is the staircase exits you facing the opposite direction to the way you entered, so if you’re holding a direction down you end up walking into a wall.

There’s definitely plenty of opportunities for unexpected outcomes to make their way into this, and the artwork for the ending that is there is very good. Keep it up!
