the dev mentioned it but there is a tell, as opposed to normal dialogue every rich guy does some kind of hehe laugh before playing their goddess because “haha im gonna win”
Addition to the comments/praise/complaints of the landmines: Once you sit down and think about it, it becomes both easier and more frustrating. Just walk in a straight line. You blow up, then follow the same path and go around the previous mine. No matter how many mines are in that grid line, because of either randomness or balancing the map, you WILL get there within like 30 seconds.
Just finished the game, and it was a lot of fun. I get the feeling you’re a sadist, but I’m willing to ignore that because you made a cool game. I look forward to seeing if you’ll make anything in the future!
Not so much a sadist as inexperienced, at least regarding map size & layout.
Although I admit some of the games weren’t intended to be completed without a little trial and error on the player’s part (cough fancy inn cough). Since a lot of people weren’t keen on the lack of instructions/hints for these, it’s an approach I’ll have to re-think in any potential future projects.
Hey! Liking the game a lot so far! Blindly playing through rn. Comments so far:
-
I like the writing a lot, very fun
-
Cute art, the belly sprite of tavern chick was okay, but her sprite and portrait were very good at the next size up (buffet)
cons:
-
DEAR GOD THIS MAP, THE FOREST MAP, WHY IS IT SO BIG??? WITH NO MAP OTHER THAN IN THE LIBRARY? AND NO TELEPORT OR FAST TRAVEL? With so few ACTUALLY useful locations, its a slog to walk past the useless church and cemetery and literally doorless houses everytime
-
My game broke? I just gave the carrots to the chick and repaired her house and then did the tavern chick’s requests for drinks and food, and the carrot chick says I haven’t repaired her house, even tho I immeidately did after giving her carrots.
edit: yea I just cannot progress. Ophelia will not accept that her house is fixed and Isis is still locked in so I just… can’t do anymore quests, I guess.
I feel like the labyrinth basement and the expensive drinks were a little sadistic, but I kinda enjoyed it. It felt like an actual challenge, rather than most games where you just follow a quest line and markers.
Did you fix the crack on the wall too? or just the holes?
I’ll second @Biggirlfan7’s question about the repairs, you must do both the crack and the holes for her to consider her house repaired; there should be exactly enough wood in the forest for that if you’re running short.
You say Isis is “still locked in”, but you should be able to do just about all her quests once you bring the Dragon’s Breath from Elayne. Have you done that, or are you still unable to re-enter her shop?
Also, the map is big because I suck at map design. Working on a fixed version, but it’ll take a while because I’m slow and life’s happening to me right now.
I haven’t played this yet but the praises I’m seeing here definitely makes me sure I’ll try it when the eventual update comes out.
I definitely want to echo some words of encouragement as reading some comments here your willingness to take feedback and improve has been very good and is nice to see especially as it sounds like the final state of your first project will be in a good spot once you are done which is great for a first project.
I hope development continues to go well, certainly take all the time you need.
I haven’t checked Isis’ store, I’ll check that. I have repaired the crack and the holes, but she still doesn’t acknowledge it. I promise, I repaired all 3.
Weird. The event should trigger once you have zero Wood left in your inventory. Yuu should say something immediately when that’s the case and all the repairs are complete, that should be the sign that you can talk to Ophelia again.
Did Yuu say anything once you were done with the repairs, and is there any Wood left in your inventory?
I have lots of wood left in my inventory. How do I get rid of it? I grabbed like 6 or 7 pieces instead of 3 because my memory is shit lol
It takes more than one piece to repair each hole. I think you take like 10 before it tells you to leave
You need 10 pieces of Wood total (Ophelia says this when you talk to her); 4 per hole, and 2 for the large crack in the middle. That’s all the Wood I put in the forest.
If you grabbed all the Wood you needed from the forest, Yuu should say as much as soon as you have enough. The 3 repairs should consume all your 10 pieces of Wood, Yuu will suggest checking on Ophelia, and her new event will trigger.
Do you remember if Yuu said anything in the forest about having enough Wood, or about checking on Ophelia after repairing the holes and crack? If he did and the event still didn’t trigger, I don’t know what the problem is. And you sound confident that you repaired all 3, which was the most likely possibility…
You did alert me to a potential bug that might affect things, though: If you left the forest after collecting some wood, then returned later, THE WOOD MAY HAVE RESPAWNED WHEN IT SHOULDN’T. That would make it possible to collect more than 10 pieces, and you need to have 0 for Ophelia’s next event to trigger. Is that a possibility?
I left the wood with 6 wood and came back and got 6 more, because I have terrible memory and needed to check the number
Now all you have to do is create enough content to fill in the map! You can do it, we believe in you
Crap, looks like that’s the problem. I didn’t make it possible to toss items since I was worried about people ditching important things accidentally and not getting too many items… Sorry.
In short, you’ll have to load a save from before you got the wood (if you have one), or restart the game. The respawning Wood bug WILL be fixed on the version I’m working on now.
Speaking of which, the town is officially split up into 7 smaller chunks now and maps are looking more or less how I want them to!
Now comes the big move of all events into the new maps, rewriting of location-specific events, and a few playthroughs to verify that most things still work.
Might still be a while since I have a 7-day stretch of work coming up, but wanted you all to know that progress is being made.
Update’s done! Try to contain your excitement.
Nice! Btw are previous saves compatible or is it necessary to restart?
Given map changes and such, restart is best
