A Quest-style text game in Ren'Py

I’ve currently stopped the downloads, as I’m getting closer to creating a demo and the vision got changed a bit. Here’s the itch.io page, if you want to be notified when it releases

Game story

During a holiday you decided to do a bit of space exploration with a group of your friends. Using ship sharing, you follow a less crowded route with a guidebook, that still has many interesting places along the way.

Everything goes well, until you land at Nigawa, a particular planet famous for it’s hot springs.

There, the girls get infected with an alien species of tapeworm and now have to stuff themselves mindlessly with food to avoid starvation.

Fetishes

The main focus is gonna be placed on stuffing and bloating. But there will be some weight gain content as well, especially towards the later half of the story.

Though, I didn’t get to writing the good parts yet.

Context

I’ve tried to make a game with a community-driven story. It failed due to lack of engagement, but the one idea I’ve gotten from @Ares42 inspired me to make a simple quest-style text game (remember those?).

For those unfamiliar, you move around a text-based map, collect items, complete “quests” and see what interactions are possible in general. Think games like A Piece of Cake / C'est de la tarte (le français) English Translation [RenPy] or Tramp 0.16.0 2026-02-1 , but a bit more fiddly, with stronger focus on story, rather than simulation.

I find those games to be quite engaging, but wanted to have some visuals alongside it. The images in the game have all been thrown together quickly (I’ve only had 4 days of development before the Projects category shuts down). Here’s a more complete sketch of one of the main girls.

I’m going to aim for a similar level of polish in the final game.

Since I’ve promised a new demo around the end of January, I wanted to post a little update on how things are coming along.

First of all, I’ve been working on the project daily and I’m making steady progress. A big chuck of the story is already sketched out it my GDD and I’m ready to start actually implementing it.

However, the biggest hurdle for me is art. So I decided to get it out of the way first and I have to say that it was a good decision.
Long story short, it turned out that I can produce better looking images than I originally expected, however they also take more time to complete. Here’s the spaceship that our group of friends is going to explore the galaxy with.

To better adapt to this new constraint, I’ve decided to change the vision for the project a bit. I’m going to be moving even more in the Quest-style game direction, by making it more of an illustrated novel, rather than dialogue driven VN, with animations replacing the narrator.

Finally, I’ve decided on a temporary name of the project, YL-959, that is the name of the galaxy that the crew will be exploring.

If you want some more details, I’ve posted a longer devlog on the project page on itch.io.
