Always excited for an update, extra exciting to hear that a major step is completed! Very looking forward to the update regardless when it comes out
Honestly, a fun little exercise I like doing with my oc’s, even before I draw them, is to fill out Hirohiko Araki’s character sheet from “Manga in Theory and Practice” for each one of them. This makes sure that all of their character traits remain consistent throughout as well as help flesh out the characters themselves. It’s a good time sink and I’ve grown so attached to my oc’s over the years, you have no idea.
@Urudif I’d definitely agree it’s a lot of fun planning out new characters! That said, I never go into too much detail when doing so - that way, if I decide to change something about a character half-way though, I can do so without too much difficulty
Like everyone else on this thread, I am very much looking forward to the next version of Forks! I haven’t sat down to play a fetish game other than my own since I started work on it over two years ago. I have a feeling I won’t be able to resist Forks much longer
Well it looks like the ice cream lore has finally been scooped up and served to us. Which is nice.
Also glad to hear the progress as always.
I’m so happy we finally got that lore lol. Now time for me to ask another irrelevant question that will plague people’s minds for another half-month…
Ooo what about the characters favorite form of potatoes.
Okay that one is a joke but I await your next question and how it will shake up the lore
i just finished playing this game, and WOW, its so fucking awesome, the characters are well written (and hot) as well as the story itself, I had so much fun and got the achievements for the start of each route (tho I don’t know how to get the other two, if someone is willing to help, I would be grateful)
Popping in for a super quick update before bed. I’m about 80% finished with polishing the update for release (hoped I could finish it tonight ), so depending on how this upcoming week goes I’ll have it done either within a few days or by next week.
@asty Thanks! I’m glad you liked it
Sorry to cut and run, but I wanted to keep everyone in the loop! Baby’s still asleep and I’m hoping I can snag a nice ~4 hours.
hi, just a simple question, do you plan on making a discord for the game?
Guys I played only Rea’s route, The other girls have visible “weight Gain stages”?
Not yet but next update which should be any day now will have hannah gain some.
How many people here are checking this thread multiple times a day?
Guess I can call myself out as well.
Hey it’s not my fault I’m excited for the quickly approaching (I think?) release of this update. Also I like looking at the previews Tron puts out.
I really hope this update doesn’t come out right after i get off my days off
Two or three times a day. Why?
Yes! Once per day, anyway…
Whew, wasn’t expecting so many replies before the drop! Better give an update to the update
First, I’m glad you’re all excited! It’s been a long time coming, but I’m happy with where I’ve taken the story forward. I’ve had to cut ~15 scenes to get here, but the good thing’s that nobody’s going to notice!
Second, I’ve finished polishing Hannah’s content, which means the update’s about 90% ready. The other 10% comes from new Rea and Grace content, which may not seem like much but Hannah’s getting a lot of stuff.
Third, I may not get much work done tomorrow due to possibly having to watch my kid all day. Update won’t be out tomorrow, but possibly Friday or this weekend. Unless…
Lastly, the unless. Toroboro, Team Spoon’s art director, had taken a break from work after finishing a pile of Aria assets. Now that we’ve decided to tweak Aria in Unity (due to performance issues in Ren’Py), he agreed last night to pivot back to Forks as I get the Unity build up and running. The plan will be to draw:
- 2 CGs. Both will be in this update.
- 2 new character portrait sets of new characters. One will be in this update, one will be in future content.
- 1 finished character portrait set (of Mina, for everyone who remembers her!)
- 2 backgrounds. One will be seen in this update, one will be in future content.
He hadn’t planned to switch back to Forks so soon (Aria has a lot of art planned ), and this leaves me with a choice I didn’t see coming. This whole time, I thought I’d be releasing the upcoming update with placeholder art. Something like this:
Finished art would then be added in a subsequent update.
However, we now have the chance to put the art in sooner than expected, and it may be wiser to give the best first impression for new players (since I’m sure this update will be many’s first plays). That means holding the release until the art is done (which would likely take a few weeks, depending on Toro’s schedule).
The update (sans new art) is seriously close to being finished, so I hate making everyone here wait “unnecessarily” (as it’ll be playable within a few days). However, Toro’s art is a big draw for Forks, and I don’t want anyone to rush a second playthrough just to see the new art (or miss it entirely because they only played the update before the art was added).
So… I’m not exactly sure what to do. I’m leaning towards delaying the update until Toro finishes the new art, but I can’t guarantee when it’ll be done (he’s starting the first sketches tomorrow). I could release the update in a few days when I’m done polishing it, but I’m worried the placeholder art will dampen players’ experiences. Does anyone have a preference?
Okie doke, answer time!
@Asty I want to make a Discord for this (and Aria)! Trouble is that I’d have to moderate it by myself, and I’m worried about how much time that would take. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad, but I’m already stretched for time (you see how often I can go between posts here ) and I want it to be a nice place. However, we do need a Discord at some point, so maybe I should start thinking of how I can make it work.
@xXspartan129Xx Only Alex and Rea gain in this current demo, but the update will have some more!
All right, I should be back soon with more info! Hope you’re all doing well, and goodnight
Edit: @debuwu If it’s all right, when’s your time off? Depending on when, I can see what I can do about getting it out by then
Probably unpopular opinion with how hyped and excited people are for a release but I’d rather see a release the way a dev intended it. With assets in the works I don’t mind waiting a bit longer. With how long it’s been so far what’s a bit more. I don’t mind bugs and unintended issues as this is normal game dev stuff. But things like placeholders or missing cgs, scenes, dialogue, etc. I’d rather wait when it comes to things that would make the experience less than originally intended. Good luck with decision I know it won’t be an easy one .
As much as I want to play the new demo ASAP, if waiting a few weeks gets us even more content, then so be it.
Who knows, between this, Chub Chomp Chill, and potentially Roundbound along with probably many others, March is shaping up (heh) to be a pretty good month for this forum.
