Why did you think they stopped? XD
Probably Work or life stuff that has to be resolved, let’s hope they’re doin’ fine.
I’ve never seen someone do or think of a Gameboy game before, this…is gonna be one of the All Time Bests.
Hey! Just popping by to say that, after a ton of time of being swamped with work, especially through these trying times, I’ve finally found the time to start working on this little project again. Here’s a huge sneak peek.
Sorry for the silence! Hope I can finish the game soon. Take care and stay safe!
The artstyle’s really cute. It’s good to see the project’s not dead, even if the protag’s neckline is.
looks fricken adorable! I cant wait!!
Aw yeah boys, this is back an I couldn’t be happier.
Oooh, I’m very, very, very excited to see the final product of this! >v< But please, take your time, because believe me, you can really see the duct tape used to hold together a lot of Gameboy games… Cough Red Blue and Yellow.
All i know is that you need to be proficient in Assembly, aka one of the hardest languages to learn.
there is actually a game engine called GB Studio which uses a drag and drop style programing language. so you don’t need to do it the old fashioned way
Assembly would probably still help cram as much game into the cartridge limitations though. Back in the days when every kilobyte was sacred…
can you make it also for android
I’m not familiar with Gameboy homebrew but does the game still need to fit on a standard cartridge to work on hardware or can you increase the ROM size?
@Han-Solo there are gameboy emulators on android
@TrueBluePatBlue I did look into it a bit and it seems that the gameboy can’t handle games that are bigger than 8MB. GB studio seems to have a limit at 1MB but I could be wrong
@Yamhead
Mmmhmmm, I figured. There’s probably some issue with ROM bank switching that doesn’t allow bank addresses to go above a value of 15 which would allow for 16 banks of 500 kilobytes.
Modern Vintage Gamer made a video about the Gameboy’s hardware and I thought it was important enough to the conversation to warrant a link.
Man this game looks so adorable and cute. Limiting yourself to a gameboy cartridge must not be easy but the retro aesthetic will definitely pay off with the end result. Can’t wait until you’ve finished it!
Hi!! Hope this doesn’t count as necroing. Due to real world stuff (uni, exams, responsibilities) I put off working on PAKUBYTE so I could focus more. Now I’m all done with everything!! So I started working on the game again!!
Anyways. Here’s a little thing from a pretty weird part of the game.
Thank you for your patience, friends!! Hopefully I’ll be able to continue working on it at a decent pace!! If you have any questions about the game or about anything at all, or you just wanna chat, hit me up on twitter since I check that often.
Let’s go!! (´。• ᵕ •。`)
Happy to see an update! Thanks for that! I’ve been drawn to the Pakubyte art style for a long time and am happy to see it’s continued development
