There are plenty of games with stuffing, quite a few with weight gain, vore, pregnancy (pseudo or real), and various kinds of inflation and expansion, and even burping, but everything beyond that is taboo. I think I’ve seen a grand total of 2, maybe three games with farts in them on this site (to mention nothing of other stuff like sweating or messing eating), which begs the question:
should games have more slobbish, slovenly elements? If possible, toggleable, obviously, but considering all the other ancillary fetishes that games come with, or are about INSTEAD of weight gain and fatness, I’m starting to whether or not slob is taboo on this site, or just not that popular?
From what I understand, there are quite a few sub-communities (for a lack of better name) on this website and each wants a different spin on the fetish.
I find this post interesting in particular How many users are making games? (Poll)
Over half of registered users find only few games that align with their preferences. So if you feel that there are not many games exploring whatever you prefer, there is a high chance you’ll find an audience for it.
I remember that when SBS came out, there were not many people who enjoyed more stuffing-centric games, and there were a lot people complaining about the lack of permanent WG in the game. But pretty soon, a new wave of users who enjoy such content emerged.
I personally would think it is just that it is a bit to niche with a lot of people having it as a hard no, so it isn’t really worth making (or it seems like it at least).
if you are gonna make it right then it would have some gameplay significance but that would make an option to disable slob stuff harder to implement (like I had an idea for a stealth game where your character would have to fart every so often that could alert guards but also be used to knock them out if you were squashing one, how to translate that into not being fart based I haven’t managed yet). you could just make it an aesthetic thing but then it feels kinda boring to make (for me at least)
if I ever make a game with multiple playable characters then I might make a slob one just to test the waters. it might be more popular than it seems but I wouldn’t really want to make an entire game just to check
pushes glasses up nose It’s “raises the question”. Begging the question is when you try to prove something by assuming it’s true.
Depends on the game, and why it’s being made.
Sounds like a good poll topic! Why don’t you make one?
Honestly slob is just a natural consequence of weight game. As someone who is chubby and kind of a slob myself irl I am living proof of that. People just got to deal with it whether they like it or not. I am not saying not to make it toggleable though. Unless of course being a slob is a big part of someone’s character or you plan on like making a fart attack or something.
I think almost the same as what BadIdea said. I don’t mind Slob content to a certain extent, but I have to say that I haven’t seen neither played that many games that have that kind of content. And I agree that it would be a good idea for a poll about it.
A poll would be the best way to find out people’s preferences, but if you want to get a rough idea right now, there’s this thread is from a few years ago:
My general impression from skimming a handful of people’s old tier lists is that slob, farting, and sweat tended to be ranked low on people’s list of preferences (though not as low as, say, major health issues). That’s not to say there aren’t people who are into those things, but they’re likely to be off-putting to people who don’t have those fetishes, even on this site. Thus, it takes more effort to include them in games in a way that won’t repulse part of the potential audience.
Yeah, I tend to shy away from this area. I do appreciate if a game has an option to turn farting/belching/etc… off. But it’s not my personal cup of tea, to each is own though.
Farting is a hard no for me. Belching - I can take or leave. Slob/messy eating I kind of flip flop on whether I like it or not. Guess it depends on my mood on the day I suppose. That said, I think if you are going to include that kind of content it should either have a toggle or otherwise make it optional content.
For instance the game I’m working on pregnancy is somewhat optional - there is a chance that having sex with a character will result in pregnancy. If you don’t want to see that - abstain. I did think about adding a contraception option, or making it a toggle like lactation but decided against it in the end.
There are also two characters that will have this type of slob/messy content - while there won’t be a hard toggle for it like I did with lactation, if you don’t want it you don’t have to go down that path with those characters.
They might not be too thrilled at having their fun curtailed if you don’t indulge them in wanting to get messy, but I want to give that option instead of just saying “if you don’t like this, miss out on some of this character’s content completely.” I think it adds nuance to the characters that they all have different fetishes/desires/whatever you want to call it beyond the basic “they get fatter”. And while slob content might not be everyone’s cup of tea - its as legitimate as any other to include.
In general, I think you should make the game that interests you and trust that your potential audience will find it.
Personally, I like some slobbery if it’s an element of a general “Descent into hedonism” kind of thing. Behavioral shifts that accompany physical shifts are nigh on a per-requsite for my enjoyment, and some light/medium slob behavior is a welcome tool in that toolbox.
Every developer make game which they want and add fetishes which they like. So, there is nothing like a taboo and most devs just don’t like “slob".
I would disagree. It really depends on the person. I’m pretty heavy but I always eat neatly, though I do get quite sweaty when exercising (remember to stay healthy!!) so there’s probably a bit of smell from that. Gas is definitely unavoidable though.
Only time I would say I’m kind of slobby is when a little bit of food gets on my clothes or the table. I tend to lick it off (and it’s surprisingly effective at getting stains out if you’re quick) which some people might consider to be a slob thing but food is food (and I’m poor so).
Idk about the community as a whole, but for me at least depends on how slobby the games get. Stuff like farts and burps are usually just white noise or the cherry on top of scenes, not really what I focus on in those games. But if it’s like food stains, hairy armpits or even stuff like scat and piss then no thank you. I like my fatties pampered and happy, which means cleaning most of the time.
I pretty much completely agree with @JakobY. Light slob that accompanies the weight gain in a general descent into hedonism goes over really well. Think things like some messy eating or some wrappers/boxes lying around. These help contribute to the idea that the MC has truly let go, thinks mostly about food, or just has gotten so fat that those things are secondary. Not all characters will have that fit in character, but I think it often does. And it can feel jarring if you have a character who is completely food obsessed and gotten obese but is fully pristine.
I think the more heavy slob aspects are likely to be the ones that are more controversial. Things like smelling so bad no one wants to be around them or soiling themselves go well beyond “normal” slob aspects in WG IMO.
I’m a fan of wet-and-messy stuff, and reading this thread made me wonder if I’d enjoy some crossover into weight-based slob/messy. The idea definitely piques my interest, I’ll say that.
