At this point the version number still being in the 0.7 range makes me very curious what plans you have left for the game or if you’re just being careful with the version numbers and it’ll jump up to 1.0 very quickly soon?
Seems unless there’s other ideas in the works you’ve just got the prestige system to finish, some extra pictures to finish, and general polish and bug testing left right?
Probably not, I personally am not a huge fan of bad ends, and the only real way to “game over” is get so many slimes on screen there’s no chance of re-building, which if you save is kind of a softlock, which I’m hoping to fix.
Yup, we’re getting pretty close to 1.0 at this point. Finishing up prestige and the pics are the more visible things that aren’t done, but I’m also going to be doing some tweaking to the enemies to avoid a softlock state, maybe even a tourist mode for people who don’t want to deal with that. I’m also planning on adding more dialogue, but those can be updates after 1.0.
you could work both ways with this and put in a detection method where if too many slimes are on screen to rebuild, they just fill up the player until they cant move giving them a game over and a reset option.
I think I mentioned it before, but I’d have it so the slimes just leave when they’ve destroyed all of your buildings, or have them start attacking eachother.
If I may make a suggestion, I think the endings would be a good place to add some extra dialogue. Maybe having different dialogue depending on how large the player is.
and maybe a comment about what this trip had to have done to the player’s biology sudden massive weight change would not have left no effect nor the whole converted from energy thing
Honestly I would expect they can gain weight just by getting to close to a battery if not careful
The end screens look really good! The transition to them is a bit abrupt, and for some reason the normal background music and stomach growls continue even when the screen is visible. I definitely agree with what others have said as far as adding dialogue to them- but they’re all really good so far! For those unaware, there’s 9 in total- one for each weight stage after the initial 1500 energy requirement. I’d definitely recommend taking the time to see all of them- there’s a lot of fun interactions between Protagonist and her increasingly small furniture. I also appreciate the addition of a visual cue for building damage- as someone who plays games with the sound off occasionally, it’s nice to be able to see what’s going on.
I didn’t personally encounter any of the grey slimes myself, so I can’t really speak to how they affect the difficulty of the game. I assume they’re a fairly late-game spawn, but I took around 40 minutes to beat the game (haven’t done a prestige run yet) and didn’t see a single one. The reactor sprites also look great, and I’m glad the stage 2 and 3 ones are nice and tall so we can see them behind the giant ball of flab.
As for stuff I’d like to see that hasn’t been mentioned by others, it is a tiny bit annoying to have to hit Esc and navigate through the pause menu to get out of the end screen. I think after a few seconds, having text pop up that says ‘press any key to continue’ and having that take you straight to the menu instead would work nicely. I also don’t know how possible this is from a technical standpoint, but maybe an autosave that happens the moment you select the option to leave? That way it would be easier for people like me who keep reloading the same save with more and more energy just to see all the different endings.
Super good work so far, looking forward to seeing this finished!
I don’t think gray slimes are the threat they should be. I set up my borders wall - turret - turret - turret, and because they ignore these buildings instead of attacking them they move thru and get chunked by the turrets near instantly while the other colored slimes are bashing against the wall.
Oh, I must’ve misunderstood. I thought the grey slimes weren’t targeted by the turrets, so you have to run over and kill them yourself. I set myself up with two walls and two turrets, so I probably did encounter a few, but I just didn’t notice!
Great job so far. I noticed a logic bug in the energy meter that goes beyond the max suit limit during stage 2 by one. Other than that it is a good game.
Just played the latest update. Absolutely wonderful, I loved every moment of it! Also the stomach sounds that were added are the icing on the cake for me.
it may have been bad luck but the first attack by the slimes was like 10 slimes are decent size no way I was able to use my energy to stop them so that was a forced resert
