The Lipomancer's Ruins [v1.4 out Now!]

Guess what! I’m back as well Somchu! Alongside even more bugs to report!

Using spell scrolls on the cake golem makes this happen

Well this is awkward.

I was planning on releasing 1.5 soon, but it didn’t feel quite complete enough to release yet. Guess I gotta finish it up so I can patch that bug.

Always remember to check your case sensitivity

Ok, so I gave up on trying to think up a feature big enough to justify calling this update “v1.5”, so I made an bunch of patches and a UI change and called it v1.4.2. Maybe next time I’ll think of an actual feature to add.

To be fair, this is what the game looks like now:

It is a bit bloated for what it is, to be honest.

That doesn’t mean I won’t keep trying to make it more bloated keep updating it. I just need to come up with features that I can add without angering whatever machine spirits are dwelling in this twiney labyrinth.

Anyways, without further [insert comedic misspelling of ado here], here is the latest version:

So far, so good, BUT I think I found a minors: the normal sword doesn’t show on the sidebar under “Current Equipment”.

Another minor bug, the fade in effect that usually appears with the text doesn’t work with a few of the screens

I’ll look into those bugs after I take care of some errands

I found a few more minor things:

No capitalization

Text stops suddenly

Missing word(s)

Fixed(?)

Except this thing, the fading is an engine-side effect, I didn’t program that.

First of all thank you for continuing to make this amazing.
This game has so much going for it it’s crazy.
I think my favorite thing to do in this game now is to watch my character fight against the fattening peer pressure/rng of the starting town between outings into the ruins.

I have this little sub game I have made for myself where I can only leave the village once I dip just below 120 pounds and have a sort of rule that once my character hits about 170/180 ish I have to head back to the village. I also have rule that I can only lose weight while in the village and have just been enjoying the struggle and setbacks my character goes through truing to get back to my setpoint.

There is something really hot about watching her drop the exercise ball one or 2 times and having it lead to her spiraling out of control only to barley catch herself before the point of no return or in some cases too late and having her fitness be too shot to get her weight under control without the help of items.

You could make an entire game based on this sort of willpower struggle and I think I would play that forever lol.

Found a lot of them this time

You somehow managed to mess up the colour of the enchanted items

And it also makes it impossible to know how many scrolls you have left

Pretty sure the lunch guardian can’t do that last time i checked, perhaps its someone else?

Typo, holy hell this boss is incredibly sadistic

The second adventurer appears breaking the hp cap

Completely unrelated, but i think you could add more stats to the stat screen, like times bested in combat, tarot cards obtained, times you’ve exercised, times you’ve reached/beaten the lipomancer among other things you could add. Because right now, it looks rather dated after the game has gone through so much

That’s because the game is dated. It’s been updated well more than I ever planned it to be. However, I’ll see what I can do about the issues you’ve listed.

Also, people have beaten the Lipomancer more than once per playthrough? That’s wild.

Ven does what she want. That’s probably cause by 2 issues:

  1. I didn’t design this game around having a sidebar, so it’s really not taking it well.
  2. That encounter was a bit of a rushed job tbh.

EDIT:

Techincally the Lunch Guardian caaaan do that (Cuz, y’know, Sandwitch) but that was a bit of a screwup on my part that was caused when I haphazardly slapped spell scrolls into the game.

Also yes, The Lipomancer is a heckuva challenge.

I should hopefully have most of these problems fixed before bed. Except the Ven’s Health exceeding her max health glitch, cuz that’s a bit more hassle than I’m willing to wrassle tonight.

Ok, I either got everything, made something worse, or completely missed something with this patch. For now, I’m a bit tired.

Also, I may be a bit inactive for a few days, since I’m going to be off doing some stuff. We’ll see what happens.

I’ll probably still be around for a portion of tomorrow though.

I just discovered this game yesterday. It’s a very fun little game.

How do you get to the forest? The only places I can seem to go is the ruins, cave and tower if I draw a certain card.

it was just a mistake they had made while posting their comment. there’s only the ruins so far, with the tower at the center, and the occasional cave in a random place in the ruins

Yeah that was my mistake. I amended my post.

Oops (lol)

If you exit to the main menu, then select continue, the sidebar will still show the title screen

Spoilers, i guess this happens when you don’t know about the village’s intentions and you’re still thin

and this 10x more annoying one happens when you don’t know of the village’s true intentions and you’re almost immobile

Also, what the hell. I don’t think this has ever happened to me before
…Nevermind, i figured it out

I’ve gotten 32 endings and i’ve completely ran out of ideas on what to try

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

By this point i know exactly how to get every single ending, but one of them is completely impossible to get because of the major bug mentioned above

Ayo I’ve heard talk about a “second adventurer” but nothing I do brings up such a thing. Any tips?
