I’ve been waiting for this update for a while, the first version was one of my favorite RPGMaker games I’ve encountered on this site (which is saying something!) and I was sad to be done so soon! And I have to tell you despite all that waiting… IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT!
But seriously, it was great. I actually enjoyed replaying the stretch before the new content because the combat is rarely pointless and actually has some puzzle elements to it (which is brilliant and something I love to see in all games, including the fetish ones), and all the character interactions (fats and just talking) are really fun and enjoyable to revisit. All the new stuff was fun and interesting, and unless I’m mistaken I believe we even saw a cameo from one of my favorite characters on this site. I love that Chicken so much. And talk about leaving them wanting more! The plot still intrigues me, the world is really vibrant and fun to explore… just, so good. And then you go and nearly make me bust a gut laughing when you pulled the gag with LASIK being a way to tease the new sprites (I also commend your constant creative ideas for making modern conveniences out of magic)
Anyway, enough gushing. I just wanted to chime in and say keep up the good work, can’t wait for the next update!
Okay so short review of the non spoiler stuff first. First thing I will say is your boss fights are amazing I love the design choice of giving the players the tools and solving the puzzle. Next thing your sense of humor is great I actually laughed a few times. Also I love your character designs the color schemes are great.
Now for the spoiler stuff and a criticism I do have
There being no full heal inn events from after the Behemoth is fine however I would of gave some warning there was a long fight going up with Skeletons especially after Bella had to go through two boss fights without any full heal events before that fight. Also meeting Greed was a really good scene and I love how you put written in a reason for different sprites in the story although personal preference does make me a little sad there was no Bella glasses but it’s understandable cause RPG maker.
Your project is turning out amazing and I am looking forward to seeing everything else it has to offer.
It took me a couple tries too, one thing I wasn’t doing was continuing to attack every round you can, even if Lightning Bolt is on cooldown. I normally play pretty safe, trying to keep everyone topped up on health, but you really need to push the damage before the bridge fall activates.
Also, pray you don’t miss any slaps lol.
Also also, make sure Noss has a weapon equipped. After the teddy bear fight her new weapon wasn’t auto-equipped for me.
Yeah, the game may need to let you know when you need to equip Noss with stuff.
Not having the Behemoth plate equipped for the skeleton fight hurts.
I knew I had the item but missed that it was a shield for Noss till my third try at that fight
Usually it’s not an issue in these kinds of games, but because of how sparse the equipment change is it leads to the player not catching some things.
A lot of references to Some Bullshit To the point where I made a whole scene for it, SFRPG and it’s creator Grimimic, who were the two biggest inspirations for me even creating the game.
Many of the other references are usually hidden in book cases: Above Gods, Lanna, Princess Goblin, Olive(The entire chicken dungeon being a big one), Apostles.
Oh! And I just have to toss salt towards Seeds of Fate when I can.
This game is amazing! I’ve loved playing it, it’s actually made me laugh out loud several times, and the premise is great! Can’t wait to play any new content you create!
I gotta be honest, the skeleton fight made me rage quit this game. First, I made the mistake of saving over my game after reuniting with Noss, so I can’t go back to the shop to restock on items. Second, there’s no way to attempt the fight again without sitting through that five-minute long unskippable dialogue scene. A lot of RPG Maker games are guilty of this second problem, but it’s especially bad in this instance.
This wasn’t the first time that a boss fight in this game frustrated me. The first time I lost the behemoth fight was due to Noss’ Backhand move missing twice. It’s not great if a move that’s mandatory to surviving a fight has the potential to do nothing.
